Lame a$$ conclusions that always ended with "Let us...."
"Therefore brothers, let us be determined to fully accomplish our ministry and make our advancement manifest as we march joyfully to the conclusion of this system of things."
thats funny.
everything ended in "as it were".
where i used to attend.

Any use of the word "benefit" in any of its conjugations...beneficial, benefitting, benefit-like (okay just kidding about the last one.)
"Surely we all benefitted from this weeks Bible reading. It was truly beneficial. Are you benefitting from it?"
so i'm still on a witnesses email list and i just got this gem in this morning..... .
i thought some of you might like to look at it.
(notice #7) .
I wonder how many of them said "aye" and really meant it?
I didn't say anything. The whole resolution devolved into ridiculousness.
i've seen where some former jws compare the wts to certain movies or books (such as the village and 1984).
i just wondered what movies or books reminded you of the wts and why?
did you draw this conclusion before or after you left the organization?
"Boiler Room" with Giovanni Ribisi, Nicky Katt and Vin Diesel.
i've seen little bites about this for over a year.
i understand that somewhere there is a video in which a woman named pat garza publicly accuses wts governing body member ted jaracz of having molested her as a child.
does anyone have this video?
Japanboy:
Hi......this is very interesting to me as theodore [TED] J is a very close relative of mine. Thanks
Having never met the man, is he really as mean as everyone says he is?
my wife hands it to me, just says "do you need to file this?
" and that was the end of the conversation.
and so it begins...
How about this...If we vote against something like a local sales tax increase, we can take that money we would have paid in taxes and give it to the society!
Heh heh.

I told her my primary reason was that I wanted to vote in school board decisions, which really resonates with her since we have kids in school.
Amen. I always thought that JW's should be able to vote for things like that, tax issues, bond issues, etc. Hell, we should be able to vote period.
having read nothing but the nwt all my life, i am interested in getting a couple other translations to see their interpretations of the scriptures.
i really don't have any idea where to start.
i have heard the niv has a distinctly "conservative evangelical" bent which doesn't really interest me, but what translations have you used that you like?
Yeah maybe I shouldn't have put that little quip in there. Its just something I read awhile ago about the NIV. It was included in a summation of translations that also took other translations to task for being too "feel good" or other things, etc. I really wish I could remember the source. That being said, the NIV does certainly seem to be the favorite translation of your Pat Robertson, Hal Lindsey, John Hagee "conservative evangelical" types.
Here is a little something I dug up on Wikipedia re: the NIV:
"The RSV was criticized by conservative Christians for not using traditional Christian translations of certain texts regarding the virginity of Mary, and other Old Testament passages whose Christian interpretation referred them to Jesus. The New International Version project was begun to meet the perceived need of having an updated Bible in contemporary English but which preserved traditional Evangelical theology on these contested points."
But then all I've ever read is the NWT, so I'm not really in a position to judge one translation over another.

Wait till I dig up my notes. One of the suggested projects was actually proving to ourselves that God is using a "slave class" on earth.
