  Did you have to dress up for meeting?

  i remember having to dress up for every meeting even the ones during the week.

  i had to wear a botton down shirt dress pants, a tie, dress shoes, dress socks and a blazer.

  this was also required by my parents to dress up when going door to door.

  Was it ever an option that you didn't have to dress up? I remember being repremanded for wearing a suit with dress pants because I had a third degree burn from a motorcycle on my leg. I was told how unappropriate it was for me not to wear a dress.

  On another occasion my 16 year old son got out of work very late and went to the book study straight from work. He was admonished for not having a suit on. I was so angry I remember. I couldn't believe that instead of encouraging a young one for coming, they picked on him for what he was wearing. He stopped going to all meetings shortly after that. I think back now. and I should of stopped attending then as well, it took me another 10 years.

  i have been trying to reconnect with my fleshly family for over a year now, since i left the jws.

  for some reason, i find it extremely difficult.

  i don't find them to be very giving or caring people.

  no I call it the False now. Its really hard to change your way of life. I hate it when people are referred to as "worldly" or "bad association" I make every concious effort now not to use that other language. Did you ever have a conversation with someone other than a JW and watch their faces get all twisted up when they can't figure out what your talking about when you use all the JW languages. Its funny!! Here is a story you'll think is funny... I was talking to a workmate about someone she knew. I asked her if the other person was a witness.... she looked at me and said "witness to what??" A murder? I died laughing.

  Not really afraid... I used to question myself alot. Scriptures kept going through my head. But its getting easier but its been a long time - Deprograming, and when you still have family in its harder I think because your always reminded. I would NEVER go back though. I don't miss that horrible routine. Work ,rush home stuff food in our mouths, (thats if we got the chance to eat) go sit for 2 hrs. come home and hit the bed all to start over the next day. Off nights were left for errands and cleaning house. IT sucked. I love my life now, I can actually say... Sometimes I get bored at night with nothing to do.
