Rules Created by the Body of Elders and an Off Topic Question
by XJW4EVR inin my latest post in my story, i recounted how my dad and another elder made attendance at high school sports events a no-no.
in retrospect, i don't recall anything in print that made attendance at local sporting events a shepherding offense.
maybe my memory is faulty.. did your boe make rules like this?.

Ray Franz, if you can stomach the boredom, is a much more effective at letting his presented facts shape his conclusions.
What?!?! Franz' books are not only filled with a wealth of documented detail, but also the author's objectivity shines through?!?! We certainly don't want that!!!! [sarcasm -- for those who are slow on the uptake]

There's something happening here.

Well, something is in the wind. You'll remember that Sheep/Goat Flip-flop and "adjustment" of the definition of "Generation" in Oct. bzw. Nov. 1995 was preceded by an article series in May on "New Light". Now they've presented the Faithful with another such article. What's it all mean?

A number of publishers have telephoned me, bennyk, regarding certain false doctrines that are presently being circulated among Jehovah's Witnesses. They wonder if these teachings have my approval. I am aware of these teachings and would like to inform you that they do not have my approval. Please do not circulate these false doctrines from the Watchtower. We trust this information will clarify matters.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the March 19, 2006 WT Study (ADMINISTRATION)

christians, those who hope to live in heaven, partake, whereas the majority,.

Of course, God has not assigned anyone to recruit others for this privilege.
Oh, really?!?!
What were those 1.- early 20. Century Christians doing, then? (Even according to the WTS.)
And if one should say times have changed, and there is now a different Hope offered to Christian believers (despite Eph. 4:4), Paul says: "Let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:6-9)

Thanks for the hard work, Blondie!
Regarding paragraph 13:
Only two sentences before where they begin quoting, the 1928 WT includes a statement regarding the time of the end beginning in 1799. I find this rather at variance with a statement in the 22.01.73 Awake! (p.8): "Based on what [Jesus] said, along with the words of Daniel and John, Jehovah's witnesses pointed to 1914, decades in advance*, as marking the start of 'the conclusion of the system of things.' " This is clearly untrue. And then the footnote: "see, for example, the Bible Examiner, vol. XXI, No. 1 (Whole No. 313), October 1876, pages 27, 28." (Also, the Bible Examiner article says nothing of the sort: rather it promises the restoration of natural Israel by 1914 and the pre-1914 rapture of the Church.)
It is also interesting that the quotation as rendered in the 2006 WT includes a bit of editorial work: the word [purpose] replaces "plan of the ages", which had been a reference to the teachings found in the "Studies in the Scriptures" series, which books (in their post-1914 editions) were still considered authoritative -- even including series VII: "The Finished Mystery". As virtually all those teachings unique to the Bible Students of that era have since been rejected by the WatchTower Society, it is more than a little misleading to have employed the quoted material from 1928 as having reference to the current activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Apparently, the WTS does not find it necessary that the "Truth" be true.

Don't get the phone... it's Satan!
by Virgochik inmy mom always warned her new studies that satan would take notice right away that they were studying the truth.
she would give examples, so they would recognize the devil's activities for what they were.
sure enough, the phone rang during a study just as mom asked the lady to read a scripture.

LOL @ dvw !!!
ok, if i was satan, i would do exactly the opposite of what jehovah said i would do. instead of coming out of the pit after the 1000 years..... i would just sit around in there. i wouldnt gather everyone together for the "great war". i wouldnt do shit. as a matter of fact, i wouldnt try to steal people away from god. i would guide them directly to the one true religion. wouldnt that really F-up the whole bible? if satan was real why would he play along? he can read.

Bravo, Hawkeye.
I predict a few moments of tension in the McD and Tripp households. And could this be the same kindly "Brother" Tripp of recent memory (Letter following Disfellowshipping: www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/107652/1.ashx)? It sounds as though Marshfield, WI is one hotbed of "Apostasy".
