Americans Have Herpes Like Nobody's Business
by leavingwt ini guess we do need some universal health care.
these numbers are shocking.
the really scary part is the number of folks who don't even know that they are infected.

I've had shingles, three times when going through terrible stress.....it is so painful.
I thought shingles was dormant in your body from having had chicken pox and then stress or a weakened immune system
could cause a breakout.

Cripes,
When Yiz posted about his problems with SSD and his wifes dilemma I did not get that he was asking for money. I think he learned his lesson many years ago on this board, and since then has had some good threads and comments on them.
I think sometimes people just need to tell whats going on with them and its hard to hear about a person dealing with such a hardship.
Why is this guy posting this, he must want something, MONEY, he's done it before. Well, I am not sending him anything and I am telling everyone else not to as well.
I would think taking care of Yiz's wife would be a fulltime job.
If we had healthcare for all wouldn't alot of Yiz's problems be diminished?
I'm interested in hearing these kinds of things that go on that people would otherwise want to crawl under a rock and admit this kind of life.
And I honestly don't think this is any of our business.
Trips cost money..You don`t have any money..
Who paid for your vacations Yizuman?..Certainly not you..
Did you take Money from Mouthy?..
Do your Morman friends help you out with cash as well?..
LOL!!.

I was just commenting on the cold sores.
My daughter has gotten them all her life and I asked the doc how she got it, No one in our family has them.
Since she started getting them before she ever even had thoughts of kissing a boy, the doc told me what I posted above.
Just try to kiss my daughters baby and see what happens to you.

Herpes simplex
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Herpes" redirects here. For the virus that causes herpes simplex, see Herpes simplex virus. For all types of herpes viruses, see Herpesviridae.Herpes viruses cycle between periods of active disease—presenting as blisters containing infectious virus particles—that last 2–21 days, followed by a remission period, during which the sores disappear. Genital herpes, however, is often asymptomatic, though viral shedding may still occur. After initial infection, the viruses move to sensory nerves, where they reside as life-long, latent viruses. Causes of recurrence are uncertain, though some potential triggers have been identified. Over time, episodes of active disease reduce in frequency and severity. Herpes simplex (Ancient Greek: ?ρπης - herpes , lit. "creeping") is a viral disease caused by both herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2). Infection with the herpes virus is categorized into one of several distinct disorders based on the site of infection. Oral herpes, the visible symptoms of which are colloquially called cold sores, infects the face and mouth. Oral herpes is the most common form of infection. Genital herpes, commonly known simply as herpes, is the second most common form of herpes. Other disorders such as herpetic whitlow, herpes gladiatorum, ocular herpes (keratitis), cerebral herpes infection encephalitis, Mollaret's meningitis, neonatal herpes, and possibly Bell's palsy are all caused by herpes simplex viruses.
Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding. Barrier protection methods are the most reliable method of preventing transmission of herpes, but they merely reduce rather than eliminate risk. Oral herpes is easily diagnosed if the patient presents with visible sores or ulcers. Early stages of orofacial herpes and genital herpes are harder to diagnose; laboratory testing is usually required. Twenty percent of the U.S. population has antibodies to HSV-2, although not all of them have a history of genital lesions. [ 1 ]
There is no cure for herpes. Once infected, the virus remains in the body for life. However, after several years, some people will become perpetually asymptomatic and will no longer experience outbreaks, though they may still be contagious to others. Vaccines are in clinical trials but have not demonstrated effectiveness. Treatments can reduce viral reproduction and shedding, prevent the virus from entering the skin, and alleviate the severity of symptomatic episodes.
Herpes simplex should not be confused with conditions caused by other viruses in the herpesviridae family such as herpes zoster, which is a viral disease caused by varicella zoster virus. There is also a possibility of confusion with "hand, foot and mouth disease" due to apparition of lesions on the skin.

Even more interesting: 50 - 80% of the adult population has the lesser Herpes Simplex virus. This is what causes cold sores.
If you have EVER had a cold sore in your life, you have herpes. There is no cure.
And this can be easily transmitted to a baby/child by an Adult that has it by merely kissing the baby.
Thats why you need to be very careful about who is around your baby kissing them.

Survivors shiver in Turkey after quake kills 51
By BURHAN OZBILICI and SUZAN FRASER, Associated Press Writers Mon Mar 8, 3:39 pm ET OKCULAR, Turkey – Hundreds of earthquake survivors huddled in aid tents and around bonfires Monday in eastern Turkey, seeking relief from the winter cold after a strong temblor knocked down stone and mud-brick houses in five villages, killing 51 people.
Monday's quake in eastern Turkey followed deadly recent temblors in Haiti and Chile, but Bernard Doft, the seismologist for the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute in Utrecht, said there was no direct connection between the three.
"These events are too far apart to be of direct influence to each other," he said.
Richard Luckett, a seismologist from the British Geological Survey , said there has not been a spike in global seismic activity.
"If there was a big increase in the number of magnitude 6.0s in the past decade we would know it, because we would see it in the statistics," Luckett said. "We haven't seen an increase in 7.0s either."
He said scientists often see strong earthquakes but they don't get reported because the damage or death toll is minimal. According to USGS data, the world is hit by about 134 earthquakes a year in the 6.0- to 6.9-magnitude range — or about two a week.
"The point is that earthquakes are common and always have been," he said.

I did have another job at a hospitol where a group of us rotated being on call on the weekends. We got paid for being on call and if we actually had to do anything we got paid more. We all kinda fought to be oncall as the money was so good. Our weekends came around about every five weeks. Every weekend would have been just too much.
