She explained that "Providing this assistance is not only the right thing to do, but we believe it is essential to global security and the security of the United States, and we are prepared to do more as the situation demands."She also invited the American people to join in the world-wide effort to bring stability to Pakistan:
Now, Americans can use technology to help, as well. Using your cell phones, Americans can text the word "swat" -- to the number 20222 and make a $5 contribution that will help the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees provide tents, clothing, food, and medicine to hundreds of thousands of affected people. And before I came over here, we did that in the State Department. So we are making some of the first donations to this fund. -

I got one last night when watching something on TV and I copied the numbers down wrong, and I can't even remember what I was watching!!!!

The Hebrew Bible does not say "an eye for an eye."
If it had been written that way in Hebrew it would have said "Eyeen l'eyeen." Instead it uses an idiom that has long been forgotten: It says an "eye (before, beneath) an eye": literally it says "eyeen tachat eyeen."
Since this part of the Bible used to be memorized, there were no wasted words. The extra words meant something to those who recited it. Those who think this is the same code of Hammurabi are mistaken. Rabbis interpreted this idiom to mean "the value of an eye for an eye."

by 5thGeneration ini want to take this opportunity to say goodbye to all of the members on jwn and thank you for your support over the years.. circumstances have arisen that make it impossible for me to continue posting here.. i have truly appreciated your love and support during some hard times when i had no one else to talk to.. you showed compassion and a non-judgmental, christlike attitude for thoughts and feelings that could not be openly expressed to any of the brothers in the congregation for fear of reprisal.
for that, i am so grateful!.
thanks to the many of you that could relate to the pain and worthlessness that i have felt about myself for so many years because of my experiences and upbringing in the truth.
