Plaintiff awarded in punitive damages -21M & 1 dollar. Total award, 28M & 1 dollar. Here's more info
by AndersonsInfo inthe plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

I hope this brings continued awareness to all~~ that child molesters cannot be rehabilitated, must be exposed not hidden in secrecy, to all. That children can come forward and be heard and actoin will be taken for their protection.
If the WT continues to play dead dog with this they are only breeding more paranoia within their congregations.
It's huge egg on their face to have the "world" reprimand them in this way. And it's not like they have not had plenty of ..."heed the warning" (to use their phrase) regarding their policy on this.
For those that already dislike religion and/or the JW's it will be one more notch in the belt.
Hopefully, lots of Witnesses will hear this and think twice before their continued blind faith to an organization.
And always, firstly, protect our children.

Just a suggestion on Twitter. How many people associate Watchtower with Jehovahs Witnesses? I think JehovahsWitnesses is more recognizable. Thats just my opinion....and as far as Trending, it takes allot of work from allot of people to get something to trend. If you want to do it, you need to have it organized and block out a specified time slot to do it in...like a two hour window and have everyone ready to blast Twitter at the same time. I have worked on allot of twitter campaigns and this is kind of how they do it. You might want to start a FB page to organize the Twitter campaign. Do it when you think it will make the biggest impact. What country is your main target as well. Just a suggestion.

Jehovah's Witness School Principal a "tyrant and a bully"
by sizemik ina controversial coney island principal has pulled the plug on patriotism.. her refusal to let students sing god bless the usa at their graduation has sparked fireworks at a school filled with proud immigrants.. greta hawkins, principal of ps 90, the edna cohen school, wont allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved lee greenwood ballad, also known as proud to be an american, at their moving-up ceremony.. context: middle correlation photo five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of iraq.it was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the june 20 commencement.
the kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny american flags which, as the lyrics proclaim, still stand for freedom.. but hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a cd playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.. she told the teachers to drop the song from the program.. we dont want to offend other cultures, they quoted her as explaining.. the curt edict stunned both staff and parents.. a lot of people fought to move to america to live freely, so that song should be sung with a whole lot of pride, said mom luz lozada, whose son, daniel, is in kindergarten.. the song has been sung at previous school events.
last years fifth-graders, including another lozada child, performed it at graduation.. everybody applauded and whistled, the mom said.

She is a nightmare for everyone she is involved with. I don't see the organization, the congregation, individual brothers and sisters supporting her. Her motives may have been Watchtowerish but she went about it all wrong. She has no Christlike qualities in dealing with her staff or children.
Sadly, the organization does not have any kind of counselling or advice for witnesses in these higher postitions on how to deal with normal "worldly" people. This postition is way over her head. She needs to bail before she has a nervous breakdown.

I have never faulted any JW for not continuing to be my friend. Since I was not raised a JW, I probably have a different perspective.
To become a JW, I had to sever my prior relationships, and drastically alter those with family. Coming in as an adult, we know the consequences
if we bail. I miss my old JW friends still. It's gut wrenching some days. Even with all the conditions of friendship, there are those that I was very close
to on more personal levels. Sadly, we do not get to evolve with them.
I still find it diffucult, esp with my children, that I am 52 and am without lifelong friends. I see my kids now, forming and developing friendships for so
many years. When they get together they talk about events that happened when they were kids. They have something I lost.
For me it hurts. Like anything else that I miss in my life. Even though I make new friends they to not take the place of some of the JW people I
grew to know and love.

How do you feel about Occupy wallstreet
by d ini feel that people are expressing their anger in a constructive.how do you feel about the protests..

It's causing people to use their voice, to think, to have some communication. These protesters are opening the way for those that are fearful to been seen or heard with the issues that bother them. I don't agree with what some individual cities have done, but I support the movement. They had one hell of an influence with Bank Transfer Day happening with the large turnout it had. This has caused me to lose some friends that are opposed to the movement. Where we have been able to mesh together with our differences over time....the hatred coming from them has been more than I want to deal with any longer. JW's can observe from the sidelines and talk about all the lawlessness....but everything others fight for JW's and others benefit from .
Some of the violence you have seen on TV was actually planted there by opposers to the movement. We watch in horror at other countries where unarmed protesters are hurt, our streets are looking that way now.
If your one that is doing well right now and think the protesters are a bunch of socialists hippies, look deeper. It's very easy to be judgemental.
If you want to keep believing Jehovah is going to fix everything... fine....while your doing that people are out there fighting for the rights of everyone, where everyone will benefit....and the planet. Maybe Jehovah has put this in their hearts to fight for whats right. In any matter, it has to be done. One way or the other.

From Occupy Wall Street to Occupy Everywhere
http://www.thenation.com/article/163924/occupy-wall-street-occupy-everywhere
Tabling that discussion week after week, the General Assembly focused on more practical matters. There were debates about tactics, fundraising, food and wrenching ones about how to build the GA’s website. Over time, the sense emerged that demands weren’t the right thing to be after. In the first place, it didn’t seem likely that the 20,000 people Adbusters hoped for would appear anytime soon. (Even if they did, when 20,000 people had marched for a day on Wall Street in May, it hardly made a dent.) The more realistic and strategic goal, it seemed, was movement-building. Just as assemblies like this one had spread through Spain in the summer, and through Argentina after the economic crisis in 2001, they would try to plant the seeds for assemblies to grow around the city and around the country. These, in turn, could blossom into a significant, even effective, political movement. Specific demands might come later, after the movement grew.
To give you an idea of where this was starting from: the occupation began with just a few thousand dollars on hand and no idea who would show up.

WTBTS impact on the environment nubmers, repost from another jw site
by i_drank_the_wine intaken from: http://www.thebroadroad.com/forum/#topic/bring-to-ruin-those-ruining-the-earth-trees-wtbts.htm.
i never found statistics on the amount of paper the wtbts wastes, but i think they're might be a little hypocritical by parading the "he will bring to ruin those ruining the earth" verse that they always quote.
it got me curious and i decided to crunch some numbers.... they print 42 million washtowels a month, more than any other magazine in the world (http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/wp_e_20110501.pdf).

I have a question, are those numbers for Magazines worldwide or just for US?
If it's worldwide, it's not a fair comparison.
