  Jesus never used the name Jehovah???

  my hubby and i have been doing a lot of bible reading are we correct by saying that jesus never once used the name jehovah?

  if the name is so important surely jesus would have used it?

  the jw's say that jesus was the greatest teacher and that we should follow his example so why are they using a name that jesus did not once refer to.

  Mrs. Smith, It's good to hear that you and Husband have been reading the Bible. I've thought a lot about what you mention about Jesus not using the name Jehovah. I think that is a valid point. One thing that also strikes me is that according to Exodus 6:3, Abraham Isaac and some other faithful men of old didn't even know God by his name but knew him as "God Almighty" This leads me to believe that The divine name was to be used only by the Nation of Israel when they were in the special covenant relationship with God. By the time Jesus came on the seen they had long since fallen out of good standing with him. It seems that If Jesus wanted his disciples to use the Divine name he would surely have used it in Matt. the 6th chapter where he was instructing the disciples how to pray. He didn't but said instead that he should address him as "Father" The witnesses like to say that it's dishonoring to God to refer to him as LORD or God without using his name. But here in America how many people would refer to the President of this nation, when in his personal pressence,as George? No the generaly accepted way to address him is "Mr. President". if a mere man who is a ruler deserves such respect as to not be referred to by his name but as by title of his position should not the Greatest person in the Universe also? I never got the explanation offered by the witnesses of how the divine name was to be "Hallowed" or Sanctified. As Jesus said it should be at Matt 6:9 The New Living Translation says "Let you name be honored" So just as we honor the President by not referring to him by his name, so we honor the father by Referring to him as Father Or LORD.   i find it interesting that the title of this years dc is "follow the christ" it will be interesting to see how they twist the theme around to "follow the christ by following the orginazation".

  i'm sure they will find the way to do so.

  any thoughts anyone???

  Hey Rules, Like the picture. Looks more like the Christ I worship. Wait did I say worship??? Whats wrong with me???? Maybe I should have said "do Obiesence to" No, I like worship better. Im finished following the orginization. Christians should follow Christ ALONE!!!! That's where I want to be. seek2find

  Society won't risk being sued "for the sake of the Good News" - thoughts?

  have you noticed that while anything can happen to publishers for the sake of the good news the society cant risk being sued for the sake of the good news?.

  the society will quote and site scripture as to the trials paul experienced for the sake of the good news.

  the society will tell the life stories of jws who have suffered personally, some ultimately for the sake of the good news.

  i thought would could have some fun with this topic on a friday afternoon.. back when i was an active witness i started "secretly" dating a "worldy" girl.

  there was a shortage of single sisters at my hall.

  That I'm still going to the KH for the sake of family. Don't beleive it's the truth no more, but don't want to alienate my wife and kids. Probaly just a matter of time tho. Oh I also kept it a secret for a good long time that I had read CoC. Good book! seek2find

  Good topic Mouthy. This advice should have been heeded by all those who listened to Charles Russell back in the late 1800s when he was presuaded to beleive (and teach) that Christ had returned in 1874. I recently read a book entitled "All Of Grace" written by CH Spurgeon back in the 1800s and it's amazing how clear and accurate in my oppinion the book was. Still has the ring of truth after all these years, unlike most of Russells writings. seek2find

  Christian rock is starting to grow on me. I really like Casting Crowns and Third Day. Live Worship music is something that is sadly missing in JW world. seek2find
