Christmas. I love the cold weather and the feeling of good cheer that permeates the air.

I play acoustic guitar. Haven't played much lately because I have been working in art. Still love the guitar and all music. It moves people....especially musicians.

Yes, I felt proud when I first became associated with the Witnesses. I felt special to be part of the organization and that God had rescued me from Babylon the Great to survive Armageddon. After a few years I realized I had gone from the frying pan to the frying pan.

Worse than death?
by 5thGeneration inone society thing that drives me crazy is trying to scare us by quoting the scripture about one who knows the truth and leaves is worse off than others who have never known the truth.. question: if every non-jw is going to die at armageddon, how can someone who leaves be worse off?
are they going to die more than the others?.
nice lips brooke

Jehovah's Witnesses as "a people......"
by ScoobySnax inwho out of all you nasty old apostates (tm) will agree with me, that if you take the gb that you dislike so much, and the watchtower that you hate out of the picture, will agree with me that at the end of the day, and on the whole, jw's really are a good bunch of people.
i did my same old rekky last sunday at the gillingham convention, and will have a good look around next sunday at twickenham convention.
i've been in lots of crowds, at stadiums and arenas, but an assembly is something else, it is somehow unique, its somehow different from any other crowds, there is a deep sense of "togetherness" i've not see any where else.

Scoob, I understand what you are saying. I feel the same way when I am around them. However, it is a small number confined to the bookstudy I attended. It's a nice feeling, but I am not sure if it is part of the conditioning I experienced from them or if it is a true atmosphere of togetherness. I still can't tell the difference sometimes since I am newly out of the organization. I still may idealize the individuals, despite what I know about and despise about the WTBS.

Are You Happy With Your Life???
by minimus inbasically, are you happily single, married, divorced, separated?
do you wish that your life could be happier?
do you believe that life sucks and then you die, anyway?

I am content. I am happy I am no longer a JW. That said, I would be happier if I had a job and more money right now.

please allow me to vent off a little this morning.. as most of you will already know i have a rare form of cancer - mantle cell lymphoma - for which the prognosis is extremely poor (but there have been some people who have gone a good many years beyond the average).

Hobbies & talents & dislikes.
by hibiscusfire insometimes i wonder if the persons we are sreally show off our talents.. you may go somewhere with all these talents, hobbies and dislikes and people just see you for another two legged creature on planet earth.. for instance at work people just see you for what you do, they don't know how talented you may be.. my hobbies:.
watching television & movies, sewing, being around my doggies, relaxing-bathing- walking on the beach - love the sand.
i just learnt how to swim so i don't mind swimming in the pool now.

I see there are lots of artsy people here. Good. I am a artist and musician. Used to play a six-string acoustic guitar but play very little now, as I am more of a visual artist and that takes up all my time. Which is good. I get bored very easily.
I dislike narrow-mindedness. I try to separate the trait from the person, otherwise I would be isolated. Also dislike overzealous religionists, and riding buses to work. Oh, also, I dislike attorneys. I work for them.

Witnesses and their "specialized knowledge"
by seattleniceguy inwitnesses believe they have special knowledge of an entire realm of which most humans are utterly ignorant.
angelic battles are being waged all around as universal court cases proceed.
all of this is happening, they believe, totally unnoticed by everyone else, except perhaps apostates and demons, who see it but for some reason remain defiant in the face of their approaching doom.. it can be a giddy feeling to believe you know what no one else knows, especially when they mock your beliefs as nonsense.

SNG, you summed it up in a nutshell, perfectly. That was exactly how I felt. However, I read much more of worldly information than I ever did of the WT and Awakes, so consequently, I did know a lot about the human psyche, evolution and the universe, even getting into quantum physics. Needless to say, these topic brought me into complete conflict with my beliefs. I don't know how I did it but I believed all these things and the WTS' teachings at the same time. What a juggling act! The only beliefs of mine that have survived are the worldly ones of science. I have become a good artist, though. Something I couldn't do when I was a JW, because it took time away from Jehovah, it was from demons...ad nauseum. Thanks for posting this. I needed to get this off my chest.
