I grew up Catholic. Went to Catholic School every day. Converted to Jehovah's Witnesses at 17. There are many similarities.
1.Catholicism:Only a clergy member can interpret the bible correctly. We were discouraged from reading it. At mass we had missal books.
2.Jehovah's Witnesses:Only the governing body can interpret the bible correctly. We were discouraged from reading it without the aid of a Watchtower.
And yes, most of the Witnesses I knew were ex-Catholics.
I could go on and on.

The word 'X-mas' : Professing yourselves wise you become fools. 1. The X is not an English letter, but Greek. Then "mas" should be in greek too. 2. The "X" is the Greek letter "Chi" and is equal to a "CH" in English letters. Where does "R I S T" come in???? So you've got CHmas...Geez...What is CH???? chooo chooooo train???? 3. We make a mockery out of Christmas when we don't practice the spirit and meaning of Christmas every day. We make a mockery out of Christmas when we focus on the word and not on the meaning. Hibiscus, you are a hypocrite! Everyone on this board has been overly nice to you and I don't understand why. I have seen others torn to shreds for much less. Why don't you go to a foreign land where "the need is greatest" and dictate your ideas. i would like to say that this site has been a great source of support, resources, and common ground that i think is absolutely essential for positive healing/transformation when transitioning from jw mindset to a more inclusive and integrative mindset..
ive been lurking around for a couple of years now, journeying back whenever the jw's gained strong presence in my life/mind.
