This thread is fascinating. I don't know what to think now of pre-Eve Adam.. Physical attributes or mental characteristics. It has been valid opinions on both sides. I do know I had a lot of laughs... especially that James Woods. And, Marvin, you are right. You can't make this stuff up. Your website is awesome. But it only comes to life when you put your spin on the subject.

Which did you like better: The Watchtower or Awake? ...and why?
by JimmyPage ini always liked the awake better because it wasn't as preachy.
less analyzing of what minute thing some guy in a robe and sandals did thousands of years ago and its application for our day.
the awake seemed more secular and less dogmatic.

Remote Viewing-has anyone heard of this or tried this?
by PaintedToeNail ini read an article on this 5 years ago or so and came upon this topic again in reviewing a book on amazon.
it entails what i think was called 'quantum entanglement', and supposedly used by the cia & the military.
it sounds fascinating to me..

I have heard of it. A few years ago I read a book about it which was later made into a movie. I can't remember the name of it. It was about the CIA and other covert operations utilizing ESP to the extent of being able to visualize someone.

It is hot as hell here in Baltimore City! 105 yesterday, like a blast furnace. Horrible coming home from work at 4:30 p.m. I don't have air conditioning in my car and only two of the windows roll down. I am almost in a faint by the time I get home. It takes about 25 minutes and it's stopping every couple of blocks for red lights. I said last year during our blizzard "I don't care how hot it gets in the summer, I will not complain". Well, I guess I was a liar last winter.

How Did You Deal With God Destroying Non-Witness Relatives that You Loved?
by DNCall instartfragment.
so many of my non-witness relatives were, and are, good people.
i had to do something to deal with the likelihood of their being destroyed.. those i was close to in the faith, and i, had the hope that, sometime before the end, some issue would arise that would wake up our relatives and other loved ones to the realization that they had to come into the fold.

Same here. I prayed all the time that my relatives would come into "the truth" prior to Armageddon. So sad to think about it. However, I had been pre-conditioned for this event by the Catholics before I converted to JW's. The Catholic catechism class taught that if our relatives went to hell (a burning place) those of us in heaven would be able to look upon the poor suffering souls but we wouldn't be sad. What bullsh... Reminds me of the story of Lazarus in the bible.

Feeling a bit alienated
by factfinder ini notice mostly everyone at jwn was a "born-in".
i actually chose to become a witness.
i was born and raised jewish but by the time i was 15 i had lost interest in judaism and stopped practicing it.

Hey, factfinder-here's another one.
Your story sounds so much like mine. I was raised Catholic, converted to JW's when I was 18. The paradise life appealed greatly to me. I hated the teachings of Catholicism with their heaven (which I believed to be a place of disembodiment of some sort), hell (which was a place of torment where no one wanted to go) so when I heard the "live forever on earth" concept I was hooked. I really loved the the way the witnesses explained the bible which of course the priests and nuns never did. Even so, I began to have serious doubts about JW's beliefs.
25 years later I was dfd and left. I do feel relieved and free but I will never again to have that feeling of belonging and security I once had. I knew I was the only person in the world experiencing such loneliness--that was before the days of the internet!
Your feelings of sadness and meloncholy will lessen in time. I hope you have good supportive friends to help you, and of course you can always come here.

Guitar skills!
by fade_away ini never really liked any kingdom melody they played at the kh, but i found this video of a kid who makes these songs sound pretty cool.
he plays them on an electric distorted guitar.
(the devil's instrument...the one he uses in heavy metal)).
