You did a great photographic job Berengeria. It takes more than just a digital camera and good scenery....it don't mean a thing if it's not a good composition. That lighthouse is a truly spectacular shot!

by SixofNine inany travel advice from boston natives or people who know the area well?
i will be flying into boston on my way to a cabin in maine at the end of august, and my schedule allows me the flexibility to either fly in and drive to maine immediately, or spend a day or two in the boston area.
what is a must see/must do in the boston area?

JWs are obsessed with persecution
by life is to short inover the weekend i was around a group of jw's.
i have not been in such a setting for along time so it was sort of surreal.. so this one older jw woman started to talk about her neighbors and their little girls and how much she liked them.
she said they were a nice family, etc, that they watch each other homes when they go away on vacation, etc.

Wecome Toscalive. Looks like you already know the witnesses even though you are only studying with them. .

BBQ with a Dozen Old ex-JW Friends last Saturday - Good Times!
by Seeker4 inlast saturday an old jw friend was visiting the area from florida.
we had reconnected with another friend from the old congregation - a man raised a jw but who had to deal with being gay and all that entails for a witness!
at any rate, we had a terrific bbq with a dozen ex-jws who used to be in one congregation together, but now live all over the country.

For those who do not believe in the Bible: Why don't you?
by Chemical Emotions ini don't believe in the bible either, but i'm just curious as to why others don't.
ridiculous misogyny and mass murder by a petty little god are two reasons for me.

When did you first start using the internet? How has it changed your life?
by JimmyPage ini ask this because an article on msn said that the internet is now 20 years old.
i don't really remember it being used much until around 1995.. i didn't have the internet until around 2001.. i had some great experiences with the opposite sex in large part because of the internet.. obviously it changed my life when i started lurking here.. and social network has helped me get back in touch with relatives, schoolmates, former jws, and people i used to work with.. all in all, i love it!.
so when did you start using it, and how has it changed your life?.

2003. The first thing I did was to inadvertently get on this site as I was looking up the JW's site to find the next convention. LOL. Nothing was ever the same again.

On A Scale Of 1 to 10 How Much Knowledge Does A Jehovah's Witness Have About Their Religion?
by minimus inyears (many decades) ago, most jws knew what their religion taught.
they could go toe to toe with a minister or priest and make some good points.. i believe today's witness knows little about most of the convoluted teachings and revisions of the "truth".
yesteryear's witnesses got a 9/10.

Black Sheep,
Theocratic Warfare takes precedence over truthfulness.
I like the way you think.

Can I Please Just Say...
by AGuest inthat it's "jewel-ry"... and not "joo-lery" (may you all have peace!)?
i know, i know... very small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.
but, dang, if you're gonna host a television jewelry show, shouldn't you at least be able to say "jewelry"?

Ah, Shelby,
Thank you , thank you, thank you for the jew elry topic. I have been so frustrated to hear hosts and guests on radio and television pronounce the word jool ery 'til I could scream. How could those in the public eye mispronounce words? Obviously, they never bothered to look up the word for pronunciation.
