Jeffro what I get from that article is that we do not want to be MISLED. Even nice people can misled you. Notice in the article that they cautioned us to watch our association. IF we start to miss meetings and feild service and shirking our christian duties and carrying on the way we did before we decided to follow Jesus, THEN it would be come a problem. Notice in that article it brings out that bad association would be someone (even nice people) who would draw your attention away from your Christian duties and obligations. I agree with that. Now If you do have a friend who is not in the truth and it doesnt cause you to slack or downslide than it would be ok.

This past sunday's wt had a hilarious paragraph...
by Check_Your_Premises ini think it was paragraph 18 or right around there.. the gist of ithe paragraph was, "some will lose faith because our predictions failed, some of our stuff doesn't make sense, or someone treats us like crap".. the answers were just a riot.
i couldn't help but wonder if some weren't faders.. "i remember when i started in the truth, i thought, this stuff is crazy, but i just knew it was the truth because where else could i go".
"where else can we go" (i would like to point out that this is hardly a ringing endorsement).

CHEATING ON FIELD SERVICE
by chuckyy intowards the end of my time as a jw, i must confess to cheating whilst out on field service.. 1. i would turn up at the field service arrangement with my wife, and we would say that we were working together that day to do return visits.
as everyone went out, we would simply get into our car and drive home.
(hypocritical i know).

Paul
I cannot say anything bad inretun to your statement. It sounds all to familiar to mine. I am not Apologising for the FDS/Society, but I would like to say I am sorry for what you went through from the bottom of MY heart. I am going through that right now. I know all about the lack of skills of the Shepards and the lack of ability to Shepard Jesus sheep, the flock of God. That is why I am thoroughly convinced that Jehovah God and Jesus understand and will in the end BLESS individuals like you and me and the others who have been stumbled by them. All I can say is do your best to Listen to jesus and continue in the things you learned. Jehovah is more understanding than the brothers.

You've got me, Defd! What's "worldly" then? I am not trying to "get you" I am just having an honest open discussion. We can do that and be civil, right?

if you were to follow the Society's direction to the letter, you would not have any close association with any of those "good people", except if they seem willing to accept your beliefs.
Jeffro, I do not get that notion from the pages of the WT.

If you look at my post again I NEVER mention PEOPLE. I said the WORLDS influence, there is a difference. I know there are MANY good people out there who are not JWS.

They did and you mentioned some. The Idea of Going to Heaven was new to them. They had the hope of living on earth under the rule of the messiah. That is shown in the book of acts for one.
Acts 1:6 "When, now, they had assembled, they went asking him: “Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?" Even after those yrs of Jesus teaching them about the Kingdom and being in it with him to serve as kings and preist they still were a bit confused. Why? Because the Idea was NEW to them.

Paul I know what you mean. All I can tell you is to be patient. "Vengence is mine says Jehovah I will repay!"

Ozzie I agree with you. The bible does not give how many times a week we should meet. The FDS has set that up. I believe they did it for the reason of keeping people spiritual. We are out in the world EVERYDAY ALL day. You have to admit that there are ALOT of negative and bad influences in this world. I believe they use those meetings to counter that. I used to call the meetings a "SHOT IN THE ARM" (not meaning that it is painful ) Now I do believe that it is a hectic schedule at times but I think it is needed. Now if we miss some here and there, I will say it again, the brothers may condemn you but Jehovah God and Jesus would not.
