I used to shunn people without actually knowing there sitiuation and circumstances. Actually by me being here I really have learned alot about that.

by minimus ini believe that most jws are deep down inside angry over the fact that they went along with the status quo and the majority just to be accepted.
some witnesses would like to have a tattoo, a mustache, a shaved head, a beard, a new red sportscar, etc.
but they don't because they would be viewed as "immature".

Bad? I have done research on it lately. Actually for a couple of yrs now, on and off. I have found no direct command from the slave that we couldnt celebrate it. I am going to research it again on the New WT library. I have researched it online as well and cant seem to find anything wrong with it. Is there a GOOD RELIABLE true site I can go to to get an ACCURATE history about thanksgiving?

Do you acknowledge to the rest of the congregation, without shame or embarrassment, that you observe birthdays? What do you think the reaction would be from the elders if they knew you were "observing" birthdays?
Not meaning to be rude at all undercover, but I have said this before and will say it again. When I KNOW I am right and the brothers are wrong, I don't care what they think. They are not to Lord it over my faith. I do respect them for the position they are in even though some SHOULD not be in it. As far as the FDS goes I know they are not infallible. They do make mistakes. Is that Jehovah's fault? No! In order for someone to be directed by Jehovah, they would have to ALLOW or HEAR what His spirit is saying. If they do not, God does not FORCE them to do the right thing.

however a friend of mine lost a very young son and went to a medium.
the medium told her the name of her son without knowing anything about her or even knowing that she had a child that died.

I understand where you're coming from, Derrick. You have a god you want to please, he doesn't exactly make his views on grooming obvious, so you need to research it in order to know how to please him. Really, you'll spend a few hours on it at most, and you'll have peace of mind for the rest of your life. It sounds like a good deal.

Here's the problem. How will you determine what God "said"?
For instance, on a perhaps better documented topic, what has God said about birthdays that has led you to stop celebrating them?
Dave I guess this would be a different topic for discussion, but I DO believe that the FDS is Jehovahs way of directing us today. So what I would do Is research the WT library, look up the scriptures and the reasoning and I would pray to God and then I would make my decision. Birthdays, I do not use the old birthdays in the bible reasoning. I have researched them and know WHERE the customs of cakes and candles and making wishes and the other things come from. That is what guides me in that area. I do ACKNOWLEDGE my kids birthdays. I teach them that birthdays are not taboo. It is just some of the rituals and customs that are done on that day that makes it wrong. D.

Carla he does see what the heart is. My point is IF we do something we know we shouldnt just because we want to God does not approve of that no matter what it is.

we return back to the dust from which we came. We are unconscience and awaiting a ressurection from the dead which will happen during the 1000yr rule of Jesus.

What does having a beard or not show how spiritual you are and why are mere men judging you by such a standard?
Carla it would show a whole lot. IF and I say IF God said we should where beards in a certain part of the country because of local traditions and you do it ANYWAY, that would show that we are not willing to be faithful in LITTLE things. Jesus did say he that is unfaithful in LITTLE things is also unfaithful in what is much.

Are ALL scriptures inspired by GOD?

i am guessing that everything in the bible is based on "a human need" im only guessing.
if we could figure out how to blot out all the insignificant crap garbage (i believe a lot was written/added that wasnt supposed to be: do not go beyond what is written.

gaiagirlVerse 25 Pauls does say it is NOT a command. Just because paul gave an opinion doesnt mean the writing of that book was not INSPIRED by God.
If you read the verses AFTER that one, as a matter of fact the last verse of that chapter, verse 40 reads, "But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my opinion. I certainly think I also have God's spirit."
There are even things recorded in the bible that are out right lies told by individuals. Some writers even recorded the bad ans serious MISTAKES they made. The bible is Candid.
If you get a LEGAL document from your Lawyer concerning a divorce and within it he/she gives some personal advise, that wouldnt change the fact that it is a LEGAL document would it?
