Hi swalker. I am not ignoring your post but man am I tired. I will comment on it tomarrow, not as if you care but were discussing it a bit yesterday.

this is a continuation of the thread started under "just had some fun with dubs at my door" and i thought that because the subject was more regarding the issue of mediator, i'd just start a new thread.. i hope that posters can tell in their own words how they understand this subject and not cut and post from the watchtower.
we are all well aware of their views on the subject.
i for one, studying several years ago, came to the conclusion that i didn't agree with their explanation, that christ was the mediator only for the 144,000. here are a few of my thoughts on it:.

at the service meeting tonight we went over this week's scheduled bible reading at 1) chronicles 10-12. the brother explaining the bible reading explained the example for young people:.
" what can we learn this week young people from rehoboam's example?
that when you have problems as much as you may be inclined to seek the advice of your fellow peers you should seek out the "older men" in the congregation for help.
Stilla
They are not FORCING you to take their advice. That is the great thing about worshiping Jehovah, WE ALL HAVE A CHOICE!

i never even came close to making a convert.. .
i never donated a dime to the wtbts.. .

That is what being a christian is about. Following in Jesus steps. What did he dedicate his whole life doing? What did he teach his disciples to do? What did his disciples do after Jesus had died and gone to heaven? Preach, teach, and made DISCIPLES.

Nate I do not consider them ACCOMPLISHMENTS, but only as failures. Maybe that is why you are NOT a JW. A big part of being a disciple of Jesus and a worshiper of Jehovah is to PREACH, TEACH and MAKE disciples. If you, as you say, didnt even come close, than that is a failure not an accomplishment. It reminds me of the individual who BURIED his coin. It was taken away from him.

what percentage would you say came into your old or current congregation(s) via the door-to-door witnessing?
it is understood that your response is a guestimate.
Or even directly address them Scripturally a first time, on occasion, eh DefD?
The whole "'paradise' refers to earth restored to the condition of Eden" thing still bugs me.
OUCH!

It can be draining at times being the only one who agrees. I regret sometimes that I do not go more indepth with certain topics but I feel if I anwered a question plainly I do not go any further. Believe it or not I do not like to argue and go around and around beating up topics.

i sent my birthday document (http://thebentinel.com/jw-birthdays.html) to a poster here that is at the very least a jw-sympathizer, if not a full-blown jw.
the response i got back indicated that my reasoning on it was seriously flawed and essentially any idiot with a passing knowledge of scripture and history can tell that birthdays are not something christians should celebrate.. of course, if you're not a bible-believer or a god-believer, you couldn't care less about pagan origins and all that.
but let's keep this conversation on the 'appropriate for christians' vein.
The make up thing I do not agree with. It is too over the top. The FDS does not say that make up is a sin does it? If they did I would not agree and If I were a woman I would still wear it in good conscience. Knowing jehovah does not view it as a sin.
D.
i'll start:.
hey brother smith, how about if we go preach the good news tomorrow morning, hey?
pick you up at 9
The fact is jwfacts, that it is COMING. Are we ready for it?
