i've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?

yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.
@flamegrilled
I like you - you seem to be lucid, which makes a pleasant change :-)
The point is far more simple than that. We can acknowledge that it is possible that a higher being has a reason for doing something that appears unloving from our standpoint - but only because we have incomplete information.
Most things are possible. That's why we invented probable.
250k drowned people for no reason = christian bible god probably doesn't exist.

speculate please on what might be the 'true facts' we can't comprehend from the Tsunami? or you can decline to speculate if you prefer.

@flamegrilled
the fact remains that we CAN conceive of a circumstance whereby it seems irrational to reconcile the loving nature of a higher being from the viewpoint of a being that has more limited ability to assess the true facts .
please run that by me again with an example, assuming we both agree on the standard definition of a fact ie. that which can be demonstrably proven to be an accurate reflection of reality

The Bible = what God says
The Tsunami = what God does

this is taken from the bbc's sunday morning show 'the big questions'.
i was going to pick out a few highlights but really, you need to watch the whole thing - it's only 23 minutes.
seriously, i could feel the bile and frustration rising in my gullet .

Oh really, so you beleive in God now???????????????
this is just facile Kate - it makes debating with you tedious.
cofty lacks belief in any definition of god - to qualify all of his own comments with that would make for tiresome repetition.
