simon - its perfectly possible to ascertain why people voted the way they did.
You call a bunch of them afterwards and ask them ;-)
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/sep/20/scottish-independence-lord-ashcroft-poll
http://whatscotlandthinks.org/ is also an excellent resource
People voted yes because of self-determination, Westminster politics and whats happening with the NHS
People voted NO because of risk, pensions and the pound.
Independence is a processs, not a referendum date. It has been successfully underway since 1998. It's surprising people are unable to see the bigger picture.

Scotland 'owns' about 85% of UK North Sea oil by geography and yet is allocated only 8% of it on a per capita basis.
If oil revenue was allocated by geography Scotland would be a slight net contributor to the UK pot.
Of course Londoners also receive +24% subsidy compared to the rest of England, but you don't hear so much about that...

interesting article dozy - I'm not in scotland as you know so don't have any idea really what the mood on the street is - I guess YMMV as usual.
the author does speculate on what would have happened following a YES vote, and for me thats entirely the problem - speculation.
what we can observe now is how the NO vote will work out.

I think Scotland could & should go it alone and 1.6m fellow Scots agreed.
Having said that I respect the 2m Scots who disagreed and I expect that going forward together we hold the Westminster feet to the fire to deliver in a timely manner on their promises.
There has been one recurring theme on this thread which needs people to do their own research to form their own view, not that peddled as fact in the MSM - and that is that Scotland is a net recipient of more than its fair share of UK public spending. (and by implication Scottish people should be grateful to the UK (read England) for its largesse which enables them to drink themselves silly whilst eating pies and fighting, all on England's dime).

I would vote Yes if I had a vote - the reasons for the Union of 1707 are no longer valid.
If the UK goes to war with Argentina to enforce the right to self-determination for Falkland Islanders you must logically offer the Scots the same right.
The truth is no-one knows how a Yes (or a devo super max+ powered No) will work out in practice. So all the posturing on this thread and in the MSM is meaningless. Chimps have a more accurate grasp of world facts than the media or you do.
(and if you buy into the Bitcoin/Blockchain theory of everything its all change from a global finance perspective for all of us anyways )
Good luck Scotland - may you prosper tomorrow and always.
An absent son,

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

But of course the issue is that it's tupical for businesses ... and that's what they are. If they really had a lifesaving message wouldn't they be telling the world to copy and paste it anywhere they could?
Did Jesus get everyone to sign an NDA before the sermon on the mount?
He probably at least took all their cell phones ...

happy to answer any specific questions as factually as possible based on what I know as of today.
What's not clear <to you> with BitCoin is exactly what problems it's trying to solve and how specifically it will solve them
If you need certainty then wait for the shrink-wrapped software bundle in Walmart :-)
What problem did the Internet solve in 1990?
