Did You Have Good Relationships With The Elders?

my experience was that most jws wanted to have an elder “friend” just in case they got into any “trouble “.kinda like knowing that certain cop who might get you out of a jam.

of course there was another group who did everything they could to either kiss the elders’ ass or stonewall them anytime they came snooping around.. how did you and the “older men” get along?.

I had to look at the date of the thread because I know I answered this question before.

When I was new in the JW religion and not wise to the real story, I was friendly to elders...But, as time went on though, I came to see them as ‘company men’ who were just there to find fault.

Worse, was the attitude I picked up towards single women and working people who didn’t pioneer.. The mentality was also that I was there to be targeted to do favors for older people and other Users. I got news for everybody: I would never go anywhere I was the target for anything!

After the negative treatment I received because I had a full time job, I made sure I was never available to do favors for anybody.

i have no love loss for the gb or religion and this is not an apologist attempt.

in fact i hate the religion and the gb.

but i watch night after night young kids who's minds have been corrupted by the propaganda and dogma that modern college's are teaching them.

Yes..There will sadly be another crop of young Witnesses who hear about this radicalism and will think:..who needs college? They will then be lulled into a sleep mode by the religion and wake up in middle age in a panic..

I remember a young newly interested brother who lost interest in college because the system ‘was almost over’. That was over two decades ago and he is almost in his late forties..struggling with part-time odd jobs because he refuses to work at a full time job....I WARNED him.

In my opinion, the only people who can get away with no college and hope to make a living are those with a family business they are involved in. Baby boomers were lucky to get good jobs with no college but that’s over!

Everybody else now needs training gotten by higher education or a trade (which involves hard work and sacrifice of time).

My letter of disassociation, what do you think?

dear brothers, july 27, 2020. in 1919, the president of the watchtower society made a bold prediction, “millions now living will never die”.

that quotation was constantly repeated by the organization till the year 2000 when they realized that everyone in attendance at that assembly, who listened to j.r. rutherford repeat those words, are dead.. that teaching has guided my life.

statements were repeatedly made at assemblies, conventions and in print that there was no career in “this system of things” so you don’t need a job with benefits or retirement, your fulltime job is to “preach the good news”!

I think sending a letter of Disassociation is great if people have no relatives or connections in the JW religion.

If people are worried about their names and reputations being trashed (and we’ve all heard of this), they should send either a letter or email to certain people there right before the DA letter is sent. Even though it won’t stop ALL of the gossip..at least some will know the real story. Besides, once you are out and assuming you have no connections whatsoever (business, etc.) who gives a rat’s ass what anybody there says.

I know some are of the opinion that a DA letter is ‘playing by the religion’s rules’, but I dont think this is necessarily true. Even though I personally did a ‘Fade’ years ago, if somebody gets satisfaction telling the religion off, let them do it.

The Characterization of most Jehovah's Witnesses

after years of being with jws you start to see a certain developmental characterization of most jws, particularly from elders who have the most power in each congregation.

the ideology follows along the route of holding up a white sheet over the entire organization, as well each identified individual member (brothers and sisters) which no doubt most jws will inevitably exploit toward themselves.. i personally recognized what hypocrisy was at young age from seeing and being around jws at the kingdom halls and what they were like away from the halls.. there is forced pretentiousness at play which comes out by jws.. having being reminded repetitively that god almighty sent his only begotten son to redeem their sins probably had some relevant connection.. there was no question to the fact that jws are associated with delusions, anxiety, fear, ignorance, subsided with prejudice against others who are not recognized as being active jws .. we are the most righteous chosen ones as it were and that self recognizance goes deep into the jws's consciousness in their daily living.

Did you ever approach your family and tell them that they were told lies about you?

I would have if it were me. I know what it feels like to have something untrue said about me..Even if they know you are ‘out’ of the JWs, I would find a way to communicate this detail to them.

Do you know of any Karens or Kens?

lately in the news you see more karens and kens emerging.. ”i’m calling the police.

i see a black man looking at me!”.

I just saw something on FB about somebody saying they weren’t acting like a ‘Karen’ when they complained about something.

What really gets me about this latest stupidity and labeling is that we live in a time where people don’t get what they pay for. Merchandise is inferior, service is oftentimes bad. SO, somebody has a problem when some woman dares to speak up and demand better..because she knows it should be better???

Yes, quite often it is a white intelligent female who is that voice that says: “I’d like to speak to the manager”, because she received shitty service or was sold a piece of garbage. People should be grateful that ‘Karen’ spoke up because maybe some idiot somewhere has to do his/her job instead of working at half speed. Maybe it won’t happen to somebody else!

Anybody who’s really complaining about this must think we all should accept the garbage. Well, when it happens to them they will have to just suffer.

around 1975 he sold his farm moved his family to a very rural place and waited for the end to come.

I agree that the general public does not save enough for retirement. Nowadays, this is more crucial than ever because so few jobs will have pensions or will even set up an IRA for somebody. A person has to do it on their own - and be very regimented about it.

As for not seeing JWs in statistics:.. I remember the mentality that Witnesses suffer in silence. They don’t want to make the religion look bad! The bethels have also kicked out many hundreds over the last decade or so..And I’m sure they’re not even done yet.

Some bethelites released were over 50 years of age and spent thirty years there. They have no skills or higher education to get a job in the world. They were sent home with no severance pay...I read a few got a bill for the last lunch they had there!

Some are living off the charity of others or have jobs provided by brothers with businesses. Other than on here or in a remark from a JW, I have heard not a whisper about this.

I can’t help but feel if this had happened in another organization we would have seen it on the news.

Out Of All TV Shows Over The Years Which Were Your Favorites?

to me it was the best series ever.

for a good laugh, i still enjoy the beverly hillbillies reruns.

I totally agree with you and others that those old shows are the best.👍🏻

The new ones of today suck with their politically correct themes. Do they think the viewing public is stupid or so vulnerable to suggestion??..Maybe some are, but I’m not.

But, I do like CSI Miami...Once or twice they will slip in a politically correct episode or comments. Well, if it’s too nauseating, I just change the channel. You’d never catch me watching the newer Saturday Night Live!..As far as the National Political Correctness Ball League..I don’t care for sports anyway and don’t even know who they are!

Regarding the story you relate that when you were a youth and put money into a savings account..you were unwisely told by this other couple to just spend it:..But time proved just how wrong their logic was!

What I want to say IS:..this talking about your private financial business with every Tom, Dick and Harry is not normal or done elsewhere..But, in the JWs normal boundaries are not observed or respected. Therefore there is the tendency to ‘confess’ or talk about your personal business.

I learned to keep my mouth shut and was very guarded about what I revealed to JWs when I was in the religion.

What is most tragic is that young people (who know nothing else) are influenced in ways they should not be by adults who have embraced an unwise lifestyle of not planning for their future!

Again...today I’m thankful I had the influence of so-called ‘worldly’ people and a non-Witness upbringing to save me from making an unwise decision years ago! 🙏🏻

Was your dad a non-JW? That was good advice he gave to save for the future. Any Witnesses who thought like this kept it to themselves. Too bad. They should have spread this wisdom around. As he said: “saving was stored labor”. Very wise.

Thankfully, I wasn’t raised a Witness so I had the hard-knocks advice of my father as well. He was looking out for me. Looking back, I can honestly say some of the Witnesses were envious and did not like working women and were trying to ‘abase’ me. I know it’s sick but I believe this was the attitude displayed towards me in the late ‘70s.

When I attended church, people weren’t meddling in your business or discouraging you from supporting yourself in a decent job.

I’m so grateful today that I resisted the JWs and did not cave-in to heavy peer pressure and labeling (unspiritual) they put on people back then.

This topic about people in the JW religion encouraged to be in the full time ministry and not bother saving for retirement really angers me....The government may have stepped in for this person you mention - but it sounds like they were still poor and had to work into very old age!

I was one such person who was shunned like I had a scarlet letter written on me because I had a full time job that I refused to quit to appease fools and jealous idiots.

What really gets me is that the older Witnesses back then were all collecting a pension - which means THEY were in the workforce likely full time in their early years. YET these people were preaching poverty for younger people in the hall (especially women). They thought I was supposed to quit a decent job, take up housecleaning, pioneer - and do favors like a moron for Users with cushy lives in the congregation! Anybody who had this fate in mind for me could go to you-know-where!

I am Retired today but would not be if I had listened to these Hypocrites. To add insult to injury, if I were fool enough to STILL be in the religion they would have the audacity to come up to me asking for money for people who never wanted to work!!!
