World Wide Work Resolution Doubled Overnight

during covid-19 crisis our hall decides to double the amount sent to hq from our local account.

the resolution is unanimously supported, no questions asked.

has anyone else had this happen?.

When you said the elders approached the family with the ‘dire’ situation and asked if they could contribute a little more..I wonder what the criteria was that they were approached? 🙄 I’m sure anybody who looks halfway decent/responsible is going to be hit up for money like they were an ATM machine.

I’m not surprised a scenario like this is happening..I predicted long ago that the religion was going to have problems in the future when the shit hit the fan about all the JWs who never wanted to be in the workforce - and who knocked ME for working full time..They thought they were going to knock on doors daydreaming without any preparation for the future!

Even if Covid had not happened and the economy ruined, some other scenario would have happened with very specific people in congregations being targeted to give money for every damn reason under the sun!

Witness reaching out to me after 20+ years...

a few weeks ago; a witness couple from the midwest reached out to me after 25+ years.

they said they were doing a letter writing campaign and decided to reach out to me… they called on my personal cell phone, which was a little surprising.

a few days ago, a couple that i knew from over 40 years ago, sent me a text, again to my personal cell phone.. i assume that they just googled my name to get the personal info.

Yes, there must be a campaign to reach out to people who were formerly JWs. I heard it from two women who are out for years.

The religion has lost probably thousands of members over the last two decades. I was a casualty of the 1995 Generation teaching. This was the final straw. I think many others felt the same. The reaction to this teaching was evident by the loss of so many people in the several years following this.

Others left for other reasons. Maybe bad treatment or seeing the hypocrisy and deciding they had enough..I could be wrong, but I am inclined to think the religion would rather seek out somebody who was disfellowshipped rather than somebody who walked away.

The religion probably figures the person who left voluntarily (like me) saw things they didn’t like and they would be threatened by this..Whereas somebody disfellowshipped they think really wants to belong but they have a ‘weakness’ perhaps.

The women that abandon “The Good News” are a large army

to be born a woman is a great disadvantage in many parts of the world and much more if she is part of a destructive sect like the jehovah’s witnesses where she is submitted to the “theocratic order” being the base that sustains the corporate pyramid, displaying submission at all times before male authority.

those of us that have been part of this cult can verify that the woman has to carry out a series of practices that for the rest of society is somewhat incomprehensible.

i’d like to draw your attention to the act of head covering, if for any reason a woman has to pray in public while a male is present, who is not available to lead the prayer, she must cover her head because she wouldn’t be respecting the arrangement of authority if she didn’t.

I was one of the women who worked full time.

I was raised Catholic and it was a given that I should be confident and have self-esteem. So, Witnesses harping on the ‘headship’ 🙄 thing sounded a little silly to me.

I didn’t feel it applied to me personally because I was single and supported myself. I was my own boss. I also didn’t care about silly titles and certainly wasn’t looking for any attention.. I kept to myself. But, yet, I apparently ‘bothered’ some insecure JWs because of my very existence..Maybe it was my intelligent answers coupled with not seeking approval and not allowing Users to target me.

They held it against me because I wouldn’t let busybodies tamper with my life..Who tells a young person to quit a decent job and pursue poverty and drudgery doing favors for affluent older people collecting THEIR pensions??..I would not be Retired today if I fell for this.

What a trap I stepped into when got involved with this..So glad I got out.

i know several older retired witnesses who comolain abiut how little social security pays.

all of them made more than i ever did but were self employed.

they fudged the amount t they reported on taxes and thought they would never get old.

Thanks, I appreciate that...How ironic it is that these JW friends of yours are seeing the fact that they worked or reported so little NOW coming back to bite them!

What gets me is not just the fact that the religion knocked careers/college and promoted full time ministry (pioneering) for impressionable younger people: It is the fact that ALL the older generation in the congregations were collecting THEIR pensions!..These older JWs were in the workforce in their younger years! ..Why then would I NOT have been as well?..This is why I’m glad I never listened to to the nonsense floating around.

The people suffering today were my age and knocked me and considered me ‘unspiritual’ because of my full time job..They pioneered and killed themselves doing cleaning. Their reward was that they were invited to gatherings I was not invited to. These gatherings were hosted by ‘great ladies’ who in many instances had a worldly husband who let them do their thing!...Yes, some man worked 40 years so they could go door to door sounding pious - and privately knock somebody like me for working full time.

These older wonderful sisters have passed away (after living a comfortable life) and are not even around to help any of those gullible younger pioneers who have now reached retirement age unprepared and struggling. I am Retired today and very glad I was unpopular back then.

Did You Have Good Relationships With The Elders?

my experience was that most jws wanted to have an elder “friend” just in case they got into any “trouble “.kinda like knowing that certain cop who might get you out of a jam.

of course there was another group who did everything they could to either kiss the elders’ ass or stonewall them anytime they came snooping around.. how did you and the “older men” get along?.

I had to look at the date of the thread because I know I answered this question before.

When I was new in the JW religion and not wise to the real story, I was friendly to elders...But, as time went on though, I came to see them as ‘company men’ who were just there to find fault.

Worse, was the attitude I picked up towards single women and working people who didn’t pioneer.. The mentality was also that I was there to be targeted to do favors for older people and other Users. I got news for everybody: I would never go anywhere I was the target for anything!

After the negative treatment I received because I had a full time job, I made sure I was never available to do favors for anybody.

i have no love loss for the gb or religion and this is not an apologist attempt.

in fact i hate the religion and the gb.

but i watch night after night young kids who's minds have been corrupted by the propaganda and dogma that modern college's are teaching them.

Yes..There will sadly be another crop of young Witnesses who hear about this radicalism and will think:..who needs college? They will then be lulled into a sleep mode by the religion and wake up in middle age in a panic..

I remember a young newly interested brother who lost interest in college because the system ‘was almost over’. That was over two decades ago and he is almost in his late forties..struggling with part-time odd jobs because he refuses to work at a full time job....I WARNED him.

In my opinion, the only people who can get away with no college and hope to make a living are those with a family business they are involved in. Baby boomers were lucky to get good jobs with no college but that’s over!

Everybody else now needs training gotten by higher education or a trade (which involves hard work and sacrifice of time).

My letter of disassociation, what do you think?

dear brothers, july 27, 2020. in 1919, the president of the watchtower society made a bold prediction, “millions now living will never die”.

that quotation was constantly repeated by the organization till the year 2000 when they realized that everyone in attendance at that assembly, who listened to j.r. rutherford repeat those words, are dead.. that teaching has guided my life.

statements were repeatedly made at assemblies, conventions and in print that there was no career in “this system of things” so you don’t need a job with benefits or retirement, your fulltime job is to “preach the good news”!

I think sending a letter of Disassociation is great if people have no relatives or connections in the JW religion.

If people are worried about their names and reputations being trashed (and we’ve all heard of this), they should send either a letter or email to certain people there right before the DA letter is sent. Even though it won’t stop ALL of the gossip..at least some will know the real story. Besides, once you are out and assuming you have no connections whatsoever (business, etc.) who gives a rat’s ass what anybody there says.

I know some are of the opinion that a DA letter is ‘playing by the religion’s rules’, but I dont think this is necessarily true. Even though I personally did a ‘Fade’ years ago, if somebody gets satisfaction telling the religion off, let them do it.

The Characterization of most Jehovah's Witnesses

after years of being with jws you start to see a certain developmental characterization of most jws, particularly from elders who have the most power in each congregation.

the ideology follows along the route of holding up a white sheet over the entire organization, as well each identified individual member (brothers and sisters) which no doubt most jws will inevitably exploit toward themselves.. i personally recognized what hypocrisy was at young age from seeing and being around jws at the kingdom halls and what they were like away from the halls.. there is forced pretentiousness at play which comes out by jws.. having being reminded repetitively that god almighty sent his only begotten son to redeem their sins probably had some relevant connection.. there was no question to the fact that jws are associated with delusions, anxiety, fear, ignorance, subsided with prejudice against others who are not recognized as being active jws .. we are the most righteous chosen ones as it were and that self recognizance goes deep into the jws's consciousness in their daily living.

I would have if it were me. I know what it feels like to have something untrue said about me..Even if they know you are ‘out’ of the JWs, I would find a way to communicate this detail to them.

lately in the news you see more karens and kens emerging.. ”i’m calling the police.

i see a black man looking at me!”.

I just saw something on FB about somebody saying they weren’t acting like a ‘Karen’ when they complained about something.

What really gets me about this latest stupidity and labeling is that we live in a time where people don’t get what they pay for. Merchandise is inferior, service is oftentimes bad. SO, somebody has a problem when some woman dares to speak up and demand better..because she knows it should be better???

Yes, quite often it is a white intelligent female who is that voice that says: “I’d like to speak to the manager”, because she received shitty service or was sold a piece of garbage. People should be grateful that ‘Karen’ spoke up because maybe some idiot somewhere has to do his/her job instead of working at half speed. Maybe it won’t happen to somebody else!

Anybody who’s really complaining about this must think we all should accept the garbage. Well, when it happens to them they will have to just suffer.

Post your experiance with JWs who did not save for retirement and had to work or live off off SS till death

but one i remember was a full on dyed in the wool believer how was a farmer.

around 1975 he sold his farm moved his family to a very rural place and waited for the end to come.

he ended up working for his brother in law hanging drywall.

I agree that the general public does not save enough for retirement. Nowadays, this is more crucial than ever because so few jobs will have pensions or will even set up an IRA for somebody. A person has to do it on their own - and be very regimented about it.

As for not seeing JWs in statistics:.. I remember the mentality that Witnesses suffer in silence. They don’t want to make the religion look bad! The bethels have also kicked out many hundreds over the last decade or so..And I’m sure they’re not even done yet.

Some bethelites released were over 50 years of age and spent thirty years there. They have no skills or higher education to get a job in the world. They were sent home with no severance pay...I read a few got a bill for the last lunch they had there!

Some are living off the charity of others or have jobs provided by brothers with businesses. Other than on here or in a remark from a JW, I have heard not a whisper about this.

I can’t help but feel if this had happened in another organization we would have seen it on the news.
