GREAT TEACHER:
I wasnât the one who downvoted your comment and I can see the point that in many cases itâs cheaper to buy, if a person can. At this point in my life, though, buying something isnât for me.
But, getting to the important point. I would pay NO attention to those who live a cloistered life inside some religion giving their childish opinions on things they know nothing about.. They are totally removed from reality about life, finances or anything.. The only way they will find out these gritty realities is if they are let-go in the next batch of downsizing!
Iâm glad Iâm out of the idiot JW religion for many years.. I pray nobody is foolish enough to make life-altering decisions based on whatâs printed in those rags! đ
can you add to this:.
"does anything about your religion trouble you as a jehovahâs witness or is it all good?
some of the things that would trouble me if i were a jehovahâs witness would include:.
OVERRATED:
It is SO true about them not wanting anybody to ask questions.
When a person is new in the religion some issue or teaching will always come up that will make a person ask a question.
I remember asking questions and getting inadequate answers along the lines of âwaiting on Jehovahâ to either fix things, clarify things, etc.. I knew the answers I got were BS and got the sense that they hate thinkers! Too many questions and you will be on their radar.. Even writing to the âsocietyâ as it was called proved to be a waste of time. I wrote a few times. I was still a âbelieverâ at that point and I consider that my questions were sincere. I received only one of what I considered to be an intelligent response that indicated that somebody at least read my letter!.. The others were a waste of time as I got laughable cliche responses which did not even address or downright ignored my questions. I knew then it was a waste of time and effort and I never bothered again.
i just picked up a few from mark jones as follows:.
i see is that the vast majority of jws don't seem to understand what their religion actually teaches.. the more controversial or embarrassing doctrine - although still official doctrine that has never been rescinded - is just not talked about anymore in the magazines.

VANDERHOVEN7:
Yes, itâs true that the average JW doesn't know all that much about the religionâs past crazy teachings. But, I donât believe they even care. In fact, most of them canât clearly explain to anybody what they even believe NOW.
Itâs gotten to the point that I donât think they believe it matters WHAT is being taught. They wouldnât dare admit this to anybody, but I believe itâs true. They only care that they belong to the ârightâ religion (or club as I call it). They only know the terms ânew systemâ, âArmageddonâ, âgoverning bodyâ and the name âJehovahâ..Nothing else matters to them!
CARLA:
I think that you (as a non-JW) have reached the distinction of knowing more about the Jehovahâs Witness religion than even your husband who is âinâ.
DEAR ZINGâs PARTNER:
I believe the original poster DT has left the building, but point taken.
Real truth should be able to withstand questions and scrutiny.đđ»
This is very tacky in my opinion and I would think a person who does this would be courting danger.
People who are grieving might be unpredictable. I am reminded of the movie I saw years ago called âThe Verdictâ with Paul Newman. He played a burnt out lawyer who wasnât doing well. Before he got his big case it seemed he was what people call an âambulance chaserâ.
There was a scene where he went into a funeral home and mixed among the mourners pretending to be one. I believe he was passing out business cards. One of the mourners who was close to the deceased (the son?) sensed something was off and was angry that he was there.. He told him off good and was so outraged that the lawyer almost got his behind physically kicked out into the street!...This type of angry response is what somebody is risking when they intrude on peopleâs grief!
exodus 7. .
new king james version.
moses before pharaoh.
PUNKOFNICE:
I loved that movie and especially Yul Brynner as Pharaoh with his decrees: âso it is written and so it shall be done..â
I thought Exodus was my favorite bible story. Some think these things never happened. I think they did (to some degree). But Iâm not defending anybody who tries to make this story relevant to today. I think certain JWs think these Go-bags they are instructed to have are because there is going to be another âExodus.2â . They might expect some miracle like the parting of the Red Sea to occur.. Whatever.
I think the bible is a book mainly of history with some fantasy, exaggeration thrown in.

FOXIE:
Very well said and welcome to the forum!
I feel sorry for many people who followed bad advice to their detriment! The one about college/careers particularly bothered me..I wouldnât be Retired today if I had listened to all the intrusive JW busybodies who tried to get me to quit my full-time job years ago.
I am grateful I was a marginal Witness on the fringes of the congregation who was shunned by certain people.. It made it easier for me to âFadeâ from this awful religion.
just curious but how do the people off this forum find reddit.
for myself i find reddit to be sadly lacking in the jw world.
i just don't find the depth there e.g one sentence replies, trying to be funny.
PISTOLPETE:
Yes, this kicking out of underage children in the JW religion has been happening for a long time.
Itâs nice to know that many have gone on to become happy, successful adults. It does not surprise me that their stupid Witness parents still shun them even decades later.
It really gets me though about those who end up contacting their children because they need money. First of all, I canât imagine (not having been a parent) how somebody could evict their child because of not believing or wanting a religion. Of course, these stupid JW parents were younger and on their arrogant high horse when they did this, no doubt strongly encouraged by worthless busybodies in the hallâŠToo bad the fool parents didnât look at the bigger picture of when they get old and these worthless Witnesses in the hall wonât even be around to help them..as ifâŠ
In general, I have NO use for Witnesses who think they are going to ask for money from people who they shunned or criticized (like me).
I canât know what I would do if I were these grown JW children who have parents who kicked them out and are now asking for money all these years later. I imagine I might help a little DEPENDING on the degree of abuse and other unknown factors. But, weâre talking about flesh and blood here. As for any of the other JW self righteous critics who have their hands out:..theyâd be told to move along.

JOE134CD:
The title threw me. I first thought it was asking for instructions on how a person could find that site đ€Ł.
I realize there are many young people on Reddit and I try to avoid reading their posts most of the time.. I avoid juvenile or silly sounding thread titles but sometimes you can be fooled. Sometimes youâre just curious.
However, I find myself reading a few once in a while and Iâm really shocked at how many young JWs are at risk of literally being thrown out of their homes because they donât want the religion. Some have already been kicked out and need advice, etc. When I was active in the religion I knew of two instances where young JWs were either kicked out Or were compelled to get out because of harassment over the religion. The Witnesses better not deny that this happens.
All in all, I think Reddit is okay and sometimes there are very interesting topics on there that I enjoy reading. I also recognize one or two posters that used to be on here!
