Thanks for the comments. I guess we will be hearing or reading more on this topic as it sinks into the minds of the JWs there.

Meeting announcement for emergency contact info of non-JW friends & relatives (?)
by LongHairGal ini just saw this post on reddit and can hardly believe it.. if i remember correctly years back they told you not to have anything to do with non-jw friends or relatives.
they discouraged you from bothering with non-jw family and to avoid them on holidays!!
i needlessly missed out on some delicious holiday meals with people who genuinely cared about me.

NEAT BLUE DOG:
I’m glad you liked my fast food comment and, yes, maybe that is too good for some of these arrogant COs…They can also sleep in their vehicle if they have one.
Guess you can tell I have no use for anybody who knocked responsible working people..but yet imagined they were going to be offered ‘hospitality’ or handouts or whatever. Just as well I’m Out of that religion. I would have a hard time being civil if anybody came up to me asking for anything.
WANNAEXIT:
What nerve. I don’t need to tell you where this character can go.

HOTPEPPER:
I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do.
I can understand the special hate for those who criticized people for working and then exploited gullible people’s hospitality. I was one such person sitting there who worked full-time and was knocked and viewed badly. Thank God I didn’t listen to anything they said!
Reading some of the stories around just makes me crazy: Stories about people whose families hosted these COs who ate their food and lived under their roof rent free - all while discouraging the children from higher education!
I have no use for anybody who gives the impression that money grows on trees and some miracle will occur similar to Jesus Christ’s multiplication of the loaves and fishes to feed the crowd.
Most of these COs are men who have NO idea of what it’s like to work and live in the REAL world. Some of them are even ingrates who don’t deserve the shit off somebody’s shoe. But, their sin was to discourage young impressionable people from getting higher education to support themselves. Now these people are grown and struggling in life today.
This has contributed to all the needy in the JW religion with their hands out..I could never stand to be around any of this now.👎

I’m happy to hear that old bachelor was smart enough to give his money to his ‘worldly’ nieces and nephews.👍🏻 Surely he wasn’t stupid. He must have sensed the JWs were sniffing around and that any attention paid to him might have been for a purpose.
Who would want to be around this repugnant and predatory mentality??.. I’m out of the religion mainly because of the 1995 Generation teaching. The idea I would now be targeted because I am single and worked is bad enough.. But to be asked to give money to hateful people who wouldn’t be caught dead in a full-time job I got criticized for is reason enough to stay the hell away. How revolting.

Isn’t it funny how they push people out the door?
It always seemed to me they arrogantly delighted in telling somebody they were disfellowshipped. They then imagined the DFd person was going to come crawling on their belly to be reinstated. They then would tell such ones they were ‘not ready’ and had to wait longer and demonstrate their ‘repentance’, etc.
Now they can’t even get people to stay in the religion. Serves them right.

FEDUPJW:
Hospitality? 🤣 Yeah. Me neither!
After listening to visiting Circuit Overseers years ago knocking people like me who had full-time jobs/careers saying we weren’t spiritual because we weren’t ‘pioneering’ .. I would NEVER have offered them anything.
As far as I was concerned, they could order that special or a Number 5 with fries at a fast food place and eat it in the parking lot.

FEDUPJW:
Yes, I understand. But, far too many other Witnesses cling to erroneous beliefs..There are too many urban legends, misinformation and nonsense stories about a pile of money being dropped on needy JWs. So an assumption that somebody is going to care for somebody else’s aged parents is just one more thing added to the list.
The religion is totally wrong for telling people all along that they should have no association with relatives who are not in the JW religion. (I remember being told this in the beginning.)
So, you have far too many extreme Witnesses who alienated themselves from their flesh and blood families. There ends up being hard feelings and real hatred. I have heard of some stories!
How, then, is a Witness in later life supposed to undo decades of alienation and hard feelings created towards their families not in the religion? Some families maybe don’t WANT anything to do with the Witness.
Too bad for any haughty Witnesses who treated their non-JW families like garbage. They erroneously imagined they’d never need them and people in the hall would take care of them! ..And shame on any JWs who helped to promote such fallacies to other people in the hall..This also goes DOUBLE to any JW who started studies with people with serious issues in recent years and told them ‘they would be taken care of’. By who? I might add…Another lie added to the list of urban legends.

Yes, but it’s too bad that the teachings of the JW religion denouncing college and careers led to the situation today of too many people in one place with their hands out.
When I was there I was in the midst of major criticism because of my full-time job. Thank God I paid no heed.
If the religion instead encouraged college and careers - you would have self-sufficient, responsible people there who wouldn’t have to worry about needing help from anybody in the congregation.
The bad situation there today is largely a direct result of decades of knocking decent careers and the gullible people who followed this. Elderly affluent people are dying off; intelligent and/or fed up younger people are leaving the religion. Who are the ones left? I’ll bet a significant portion are needy..And, now these ones are apparently being encouraged to have contact with their non-Witness relatives. 🤷🏻♀️

FEDUPJW:
I’m glad your parents had you and that other kind relative. Forget about the people in the congregation.
In another Nutshell, this is what the real problem in the JW religion is as I see it:..The Witness religion (UNLIKE Christendom) has NO programs to help anybody!! Therefore, the wrong ‘message’ is that Other people in the congregation are going to be hit up for money. They never tell this to new recruits because I’d never tolerate it.
The BIG problem with this is that the religion discouraged college and careers so many are low income. Also, there were hateful attitudes towards people who did get careers! Much of the vindictiveness was on the part of people who NEVER wanted to work but preferred to be in the full time ministry with part time crappy jobs..These people also got invited to special gatherings that I was never invited to….SO, what makes anybody think people who got criticized are going to give money to people who didn’t want to work??? This would also extend to what you said about your parents getting help. I mean, what kind of ‘help’ would you imagine they were going to get from people in the congregation?
No offense, but I think this is a wrong expectation that people in a congregation are going to care for anybody’s aged parents. Really? (Hospitality here and there and barbecue invitations are one thing: caring for somebody else’s relatives is another thing entirely.).. Just be glad You were there for them and that you had enough sense to plan for your retirement.

First rule of book club: don't talk about book club
by Judgerussellford ini've never heard anyone else but ne say this but i've been saying it for years.
if you agree and have also been saying this for years, that is hilariously greater.
watchtower is just a cooperation that hides behind a religious title, that owns real-estate around the world, these buildings wich only have 1 purpose.

Hi JUDGERUSSELLFORD:
I was raised Catholic and (sadly) got involved with the JW religion as a young working person several years after 1975. Nobody mentioned 1975 to me.
I found out much later on about people who quit jobs and made other foolish gambles before 1975. It was all hush-hush. I am just happy I never did.
Glad it makes you happy to collect these books. That sounds like a very impressive collection you have!
