If somebody wants to engage they will. Sometimes they can’t be bothered.
NICOLAOU:
Because it would descend into stalking and insults and some FUs on the part of some individuals here who have a problem.
hello all.. i could use some help identifying the title of a wt book that i read back in the early 90's.
it was an older book when i read it.
i wish that i could recall more than i do.

There could be a few reasons for a downvote:
It could be a fat-fingered mistake or a person could disagree with some of your post OR all of your post.. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything you said was wrong or untrue.. They just don’t like it. Some people on the forum (maybe lurking JWs) are upset that a particular thing is even said in the first place.
Sometimes maybe some don’t want to engage with argumentative people and they downvote instead.
watchtower august 15th 1935 - "...the greatest of all tribulations mentioned in the scriptures must come after the great multitude appears and must be that which is mentioned by christ jesus as “tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time.” that tribulation period began with the “day of jehovah”, to wit, in 1914, when the war started against satan’s organization in heaven, and reaches the great climax at the time of the battle of armageddon, the great day of god almighty.
110 years - and counting!.
other denominations claim the great tribulation is only going to last for 7 years.
ONCEBITTEN:
Since I wasn’t raised a Witness, I cannot imagine what it must be like for anybody who desperately wants to get their family out of the JW religion! Even though things weren’t all peachy in my home to say the least, I had somewhat of a ‘normal’ childhood and don’t feel the deprivation that some raised in the religion have.
I cannot imagine the heartbreak of shunning from loved ones. Strangers in the hall? Couldn’t care less. But, a loved one I would mind. That’s why I’m glad I had no family there that these evil zombies could use against me.
I wish you all the best in finding a way to free your family from this terrible trap.
the meaning of true love from a man.. by elizabeth rossi, freelance writer .
i hate to say this but most women will go their entire lifetime and never experience the meaning of actual true love.. it's even slightly depressing to think that most people will never understand how powerful this picture actually is; a prime example of how men should be treating their partner with everyday that passes.. we unfortunately live in a generation with men who have no idea what it takes to be a real man.. let me give you a couple examples of a real man ....... a real man asks about your day and genuinely cares about the answer.. a real man respects your boundaries and never forces you to anything you're not ready to do.. he makes time for you, and takes that time to learn and understand who you are as a person.. a real man consistently shows you the definition of effort with every day that passes.. he will call you randomly throughout the day just to check on you and your mental health.. a real man is undeniably committed to you and looks for new ways to fall in love with you with every day that passes.. he makes protecting your heart a number one priority.. a real man never makes permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.. he never confuses you on where you stand in his life.. a real man apologizes when he is wrong and stays true to his character.. he doesn't mind hurting other people's feeling to protect yours.. a real man gives you affection without sexual expectation.. a real man refuses to entertain any women that isn't you.. he has genuine intentions with you from day one and shows you how it truly feels to be a priority rather an option.. a real man will help you heal from the trauma that nobody apologized for.. a real man values you and would never put themselves in a position to lose you.. take my advice and wait for the man that never let's you fall asleep at night questioning your own self worth.. .

NO ZOMBIE:
Yours and NICOLAU’s posts are the ones I like best on this inflammatory thread.. I mean, who is to say what a ‘real’ man or woman should be? 🙄
This is cultural and would vary a great deal depending on what century or era you live in - and what’s going on in the world around you.
VANDERHOVEN’s list is also nice.
it's incredible how this cover, and also this "series" of watchtower's is burned into my mind.
i was almost 5 years old when these were released.

WING COMMANDER:
Yes, they have insulted everybody’s intelligence for so long.
They cannot tolerate anybody ‘waking up’ or showing intelligence of any sort and asking questions. Think of the story of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” with everybody going along with the charade and the little kid at the end who exclaims “the Emperor is naked”…To the religion, that little kid would be an apostate.
I also feel that people should have woken up with the 1995 Generation teaching.. I certainly did.. Then that ‘Overlapping’ nonsense came out and maybe some more woke up. I certainly have no respect for anybody who stayed after this - but many JWs are desperate to believe the religion and make excuses for it. The older diehards who are there now aren’t going anywhere no matter what is taught! 🤷🏻♀️
the ot of wing commander made me think about the following.. i was born in 1970, 4th generation jw.
in the 70's i got the indirect message of 1975, and in the early 80's we were promissed a paradise were we could life for ever!
this all combined with the 1914 doctrine.. it was all about show activity and works, that lead to a reward, the paradise earth.. i'm curious about the jw's of later years and the current "generation z".. we don't visit the hall, maybe once in a year.
GORB:
In recent communications with some Witness friends I keep in touch with - they keep saying the End is so close - which means Armageddon - which would bring the new system’ (which would turn into the paradise) if I’m not mistaken.
These JWs know I’m ‘Out’ but wishing I’d come back. So, I never bring up the absurd teachings of the religion!.. I just knock the new changes to them showing the religion taught unbiblical things in the first place. Unfortunately, their response is the defense of ‘imperfection’ which I’m tired of hearing.
Personally, I don’t think somebody can claim ‘imperfection’ after they claimed they spoke for God.

WING COMMANDER:
I remember 1984 and those particular magazines.
Those were the early days of my being in the Witness religion. The fervor for pioneering was absolutely off the charts - and I got so much grief for having a full-time job!
But, now, here we are and all those people pictured on that magazine are gone.. And, the self-assured somewhat arrogant individuals I remembered in the congregation have gotten old - with some having passed away.. I would have loved to have talked to some of them to tell them how I feel about everything and how I’m Glad I never listened!😉
the watchtower characterizes christians not affiliated with the watchtower corporation as vomit eaters and filthy whores: .
“how well they pictured the spiritual drunkards of christendom at the present time!
besides actual wine and intoxicating liquors, there are other things to intoxicate the priests and preachers in christendom so as to induce drowsiness in them, to make them reel, to confuse things before their religious vision, to induce them to belch out the vomit of spiritually filthy things” - w59 3/1 pp.
SEA BREEZE:
When you read this language the JW religion uses when describing other Christian religions, it sounds almost psycho! Back in the early days when I was ‘in’ (and didn’t know the real story) this bothered me.
I mean, who do they really think they are? They are no more than an offshoot of the Adventist religion.. Anybody wants to keep believing this is ‘truth’, go right ahead.
So many of their teachings are man made and faulty. They keep on reinventing themselves as we are all seeing... What’s laughable is that Theologians have been arguing about many things for centuries.
Meanwhile these jumped-up Johnny-come-lately JWs who have no real education have proclaimed themselves experts.. I don’t believe anything they say or accept any modern person’s divine claims about anything.
moving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.
and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.
i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.
PHIZZY:
In my case those vestiges were gone early on. I suppose it depends on how a person leaves the religion.. I did a planned ‘Fade’.. I remember that along the way I slowly disposed of all their books and literature.
I remember tearing up that signed pink song book I got for my ‘baptism’ (a total waste because I was baptized at birth when I was born Catholic).
The last thing I got rid of was that much altered bible.
And, it is true that the Witness life was like being in another country: a dictatorship! I remember when I read ‘Crisis of Conscience’ it sounded as though R. Franz was describing a communist regime!.. I couldn’t believe I got trapped in this.
No regrets about getting out of there!
as your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.
also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.
please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.
NO ZOMBIE:
Sounds like a nightmare.
Probably the measure of ‘spirituality’ now means giving money/handouts to people there who never worked or planned!
But you’re right that this could possibly be a new measure of ‘spirituality’: the religion cannot deliver the ‘new system’ so if there’s a disaster they imagine the poor JWs in congregations are going to deal with everybody!! ..So many with no life skills expecting somebody else to bail them out.. I would never want to be near them!
