Yes, I most certainly am a Baby Boomer like your late mom.. May she RIP.. In all probability, I would have had conversations with her. We could relate because we both worked. We weren’t like other stupid Stepford wife types there!

I confess I have NO camaraderie whatsoever with married women who never worked. They said the stupidest things and you’d want to punch them in the face. So, I got a reputation of sorts that I ‘said things’. Well, that’s because some effin’ morons thought they could say anything they wanted to a single woman!! Some of them got an answer they never expected. I wasn’t tolerating or humoring anybody like this because their shit was intolerable.

It is not just the GB that deserve to be criticized. It is the rank & file idiots in each congregation that are guilty of this unchristian behavior. There was also great jealousy I perceived if somebody worked and they imagined you were rolling in dough. These idiots thought I was ‘golden’ and had no responsibilities because I was single. Meanwhile, as anybody who works full time will tell you.. you have no time for anything and you’re lucky you got a nights sleep.

I am sorry your mom went through what she did, and that part where she had nasty things said to her because she tried to pioneer. Their remarks indicate this all-pervasive jealousy of an educated woman with a decent job.

As I have said many times: ..if I had listened to this idiot religion and caved in to pressure to pioneer I would be so screwed it wouldn’t be funny. As it is, I do have to watch my pennies. I have said it before that I have No pity for anybody who chose not to work… Starving??.. Go ask the religion for money that pressured them/promised them Paradise..or track down their spiritual friends who might still be around!

But none of these fools deserve anything from people they criticized, marginalized and slandered.

I do believe my so-called worldly Catholic parents had my best interests at heart.

However, I do Not believe that Jehovah’s Witnesses had my best interests at heart. No way.. They were out to exploit me and couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ what became of me. But, Thank God my contrary nature and ‘worldly’ upbringing saved me and I am grateful today.

As far as JWs not having their children’s proper best interests at heart it’s because something got between the parents and their children. That thing was a cold religious corporation.

The sad thing in all this:.. Witnesses believed the fantasy they were told and threw common sense out the window.. In fact what they did was cave in to peer pressure. They even ignored scriptures that promote saving or preparing. They followed men.. Hence, you have the many thousands of Witnesses today who reached retirement age unprepared.

Surely, no young person years ago invited to a pioneer dinner and patted on the back had ANY idea their financial security in old age was in jeopardy and they were being lulled into a sleep mode wasting precious Time with fantasies.

Yes, those upper echelon dinner invitations years ago in the congregation certainly did not pay for anybody’s Retirement.

Believe me, I was a young twenty-something and was certainly not thinking about my retirement or old age all those years ago! I was simply thinking of immediate concerns: like paying my rent, groceries, automobile expenses, etc. I also noticed that all the older people in the congregation were collecting pensions and had comfortable lives. They were available to pioneer.

I came from a non-JW background so common sense prevailed.. Not the mentality of somebody jumping from a plane without a parachute. Older people with cushy lives (many of whom are dead today) were suggesting I do something foolish like just quit my job. The poverty they were pushing for me was not for them.

I don’t want to imagine how bad things would be if I listened to any of this. The old hypocrites with the cushy lives aren’t even around to help anybody they misled.

Again, glad I didn’t buy any of this and so what that I suffered the ‘consequences’ of not being invited?... But, I’m smiling now and those pioneers who knocked me then can go ask somebody else for charity.

Again, I am so very grateful to God that I never listened or followed the crowd when I was younger and kept on working at that full-time job all those Witness fools scoffed at me for.. They wouldn’t have been caught dead doing what I did. They made sure I was ostracized.

I would have to say that now, it was well worth it to not have been invited to those special dinners they held for people in full time ministry back then.. These so-called perks, other popularity and being the congregation darling back then are all meaningless bullshit NOW if somebody didn’t provide for their Retirement..

It all meant zero and I was SO right to do what I did.

he seems ok i've seen a photo of him bleeding from his ear.

this is absolutely nutso....if it's too it doesn't surprise me the way they constantly describe him as "far right" and that his supporters are "maga republicans".

I was watching some YouTubes and one guy said he doesn’t trust anything anybody says and if he were DT he would get rid of everybody and get his own security.

If I were DT and thought about this I might do that very thing.. He’s got enough money.. Why should he take a chance that anything like this could happen again and that’s assuming this was just inefficiency or oversight!!

) but an unofficial one.

has anyone ever sat down to figure out what the unofficial ranks are and how they affect the pecking order?

The Jehovah’s Witness religion most certainly does have a class and a caste system.

I was raised Catholic and maybe this was why I was not impressed by any of this. I did not ‘aspire’ to be a pioneer and couldn’t see what all the fanfare was about. My eyes would glaze over when people told me I was missing out on ‘blessings’ because I worked at a full-time job. Thank God I ignored them.

What the religion cannot be forgiven for is engendering hateful attitudes.

People not wanting to work is one thing (there are lots of lazy people); however.. throwing hatred towards somebody who does work is another thing entirely.. Nope. No forgiveness. This is why I have No pity for broke pioneer senior citizens in the religion and Glad I’m not around them.

Yes, I just learned this. I read that the shooter and one other person are dead. I believe that DT suffered a wound to his outer ear. I am hoping it wasn’t worse.

Members of congregation know it’s not true

we have lonely old folks and even some not so old.. they know the gb are not who they claim to be.. but they stay in the congregation because they are lonely.

i wonder what percentage of jws this is the case, i would guess a lot.

That was ME who said that about ‘the incredible shrinking religion’.

While this is no concern of mine since I am long Out (and never depended on anyone because I worked).. it should be of considerable concern to Witnesses who perhaps didn’t work decent jobs and are on the needy side.. Every now and then an elder or somebody discreetly helps them.

When more elderly pass away and others leave and halls get sold, etc. these needy JWs who bought into all the religion’s nonsense hook, line and sinker.. are in trouble. The religion (or community) they depended on to have a physical presence either won’t be there OR will be far away….Just sayin’

You might have a point there where you say “they never seemed to particularly want overly good-looking members”.

If somebody didn’t understand the whole thing they might say this sounded ridiculous. But, in fact, somebody overly attractive, flashy or whatever would be seen as a distraction 🙄 to some morons there.. The religion got too populous and started to get choosy and arrogant about a lot of things - hence all their stupid rules.. I think they even seemed to like the idea of disfellowshipping people - thinking the persons were going to come crawling on their belly begging to be reinstated in this ‘special’ place.. Some idiot elders were probably salivating over this and ‘playing God’.

Now, they can hardly keep people in the religion as members are fed up and leaving in droves. Oh, well. That’s what faulty teachings, meddling in people’s lives and failed predictions will get you!.

Now they have to resort to special campaigns to entice people back into the religion who have been long out! .. Well, this serves them right and they deserve to have nobody there.. Hopefully the last person out of this charade will remember to turn off the lights!

I think you are probably right.

But, that group of ‘hardcore believers’ (like the few acquaintances I have left there) are older people. They are on the younger spectrum of the Boomer category.. What happens when their older friends pass away? I don’t think they are close to any younger people.. And I doubt the younger people are going to stick around for very long anyway.

My acquaintances attend on Zoom and I am not sure if they ever attend in person. But, If the religion decides to sell off even more halls so that they would have to drive too far - it’s almost like a game of musical chairs where someone is left standing without a chair. The missing chair being the missing hall.. It just seems to me the JWs are becoming the incredible shrinking religion.
