Years ago I was "thrilled" because they were going to have a special meeting about a special tract.
When I attended the meeting I felt let-down and cheated. Was that all there was? I wondered what all the excitement was all about! I felt like a real idiot who was conned, similar to the boy who cried wolf story. I even wrote a letter criticising their lame attempt to get everybody all whipped up only to be let down by a big nothing.
A few years ago they had a special assembly day that you needed tickets to get into. I had no interest in going. After it was over I was told by a friend that it was much ado about nothing and was a big disappointment.
I am convinced they do these things from time to time as a gauge to see just how stupid and gullible their followers are.

As I just mentioned on a similar thread: they want you to come to the conclusion that getting a college education is no good for YOU.
The reality is that it is no good for THEM.
That is what the real deception is all about. -

Suitable careers for JW children to aim for!
by Gill inthe october the 1st watchtower has interesting views on the education of jw children.. page 30, in which one jw explains how he ended up in ft service says:.
'we did not associate with our school mates but only with those in the congregation who had good spiritual habits.'.
interesting as this shows judgmentalism and criticism 'even' in the jw congregation.. then on page 31 it explains how parents must offer their children, as early as possible, proper guidance in their choice of school subjects and vocation goals.. 'rather than choose academic subjects that are geared toward a university education, parents and children need to consider courses that are useful in pursuing a theocratic career.'.

Undercover:
They're not just trying to control the lives of their followers they are acting in their own self interest in demonizing higher education.
They are trying to convince the dumbed-down dub that it is in HIS or HER best interest not to go to college - when the reality is it is in THEIR best interest for them not to go.
Utter deception! -

You are right about it being hard to even become a reputable tradesman. It does take many years to become established. If I am not mistaken, you may even have to "know" somebody. I got angry when it was made to sound like a piece of cake. This topic makes my blood boil because the people who write these articles are so far removed from the real world that they are in no position to even comment on these things!
As far as them advising against college education once again I believe I know the reason. I was told that college educated brothers have a problem accepting counsel. If this is the REAL reason, this is very cowardly on their part. -

Why Is Love Among Jehovah's Witnesses Now Only Third Rate?
by metatron inyears ago, in the watchtower's truth book, the chapter called "how to identify the true .
religion" offered a set of reasons for thinking that jw's had the "truth".. the very first "identifying mark " of "true religion" was stated as having "love among.
themselves" as jesus plainly said in john 13: 35 : "by this all will know that you are my.

What you said about the ministry school and sisters not talking to each other brought back a memory. The biggest reason I dropped out of the school was because I couldn't stand to be with these women. Too much headtripping.
I felt that the women were inflicted on each other in a way that the brothers were not. The idiot who started this whole thing must have had the idea that it was a giant quilting bee and it made HIM feel good to see all the wonderful sisters working together.

2 Elders Ask My Mom 2 Questions-----What's Your Opinion On Motive?
by minimus in#1 do you love jehovah?......she answered, "of course i love jehovah".
#2 do you feel the same about the faithful & discreet slave?....she answered, "why wouldn't i ?
they taught me everything i know".-----to give you some background, the elders paid a shepherding call on this ill former regular pioneer that they deleted for going to an "unequaled yoking" of a wedding of my inactive daughter and her "worldly" husband.

What a bunch of sneaky bastards! This visit isn't out of concern for your mother's welfare. It is, as was mentioned, a "fishing expedition". They have to get to the bottom of your mother's attitude towards them. They are not quite convinced that she is not a "problem". They won't be happy until she's smiling at them and agreeing with them. This may not be over yet.

I forgot to welcome you to the board. So, welcome!
You will learn many things here. Some you will have already thought of and it will just confirm that you are not the only one with these thoughts. As with myself, there are a few new things I learned here. Most I had already suspected.
But in all seriousness, that place is more dangerous for your mental health and well-being. (This is only a message board). That place is a place where people CAN and WILL overstep their boundaries with you. In fact, they don't acknowledge that there are any boundaries - especially if you a woman. So, watch out! You are encouraged to let your guard down because you are led to believe that you are surrounded by "brothers" and "sisters" who have YOUR best interest in mind. Not so. And I haven't even mentioned doctrinal issues!
I hope you enjoy the board! -

I particularly loved your phrase "...coven of cowardly crazies who condone putting the health of a child on the bottom rung....watching them die faithful". This makes them sound SOO evil! It almost conjures up pictures of people in ancient times who actually put their children into the fire to appease the god baal. It is a similar mentality.
I also liked your phrase "circus of freaks". I could almost forgive them if they were loving freaks but they are not. -

Does anybody remember the scripture: "The man of thinking abilities will be hated"?
This scripture applies to us here. We are hated because of our thinking abilities. Not that we never had them - they were just suppressed. Not any more! -

There are a few people in my life who I would have given a copy of that record to. My father for one. My parents just didn't get it. My life is MY life, not theirs!!
