Real truth should be able to withstand questions and scrutiny.👍🏻

This is very tacky in my opinion and I would think a person who does this would be courting danger.
People who are grieving might be unpredictable. I am reminded of the movie I saw years ago called “The Verdict” with Paul Newman. He played a burnt out lawyer who wasn’t doing well. Before he got his big case it seemed he was what people call an ‘ambulance chaser’.
There was a scene where he went into a funeral home and mixed among the mourners pretending to be one. I believe he was passing out business cards. One of the mourners who was close to the deceased (the son?) sensed something was off and was angry that he was there.. He told him off good and was so outraged that the lawyer almost got his behind physically kicked out into the street!...This type of angry response is what somebody is risking when they intrude on people’s grief!
exodus 7. .
new king james version.
moses before pharaoh.
PUNKOFNICE:
I loved that movie and especially Yul Brynner as Pharaoh with his decrees: “so it is written and so it shall be done..”
I thought Exodus was my favorite bible story. Some think these things never happened. I think they did (to some degree). But I’m not defending anybody who tries to make this story relevant to today. I think certain JWs think these Go-bags they are instructed to have are because there is going to be another ‘Exodus.2’ . They might expect some miracle like the parting of the Red Sea to occur.. Whatever.
I think the bible is a book mainly of history with some fantasy, exaggeration thrown in.

FOXIE:
Very well said and welcome to the forum!
I feel sorry for many people who followed bad advice to their detriment! The one about college/careers particularly bothered me..I wouldn’t be Retired today if I had listened to all the intrusive JW busybodies who tried to get me to quit my full-time job years ago.
I am grateful I was a marginal Witness on the fringes of the congregation who was shunned by certain people.. It made it easier for me to ‘Fade’ from this awful religion.
just curious but how do the people off this forum find reddit.
for myself i find reddit to be sadly lacking in the jw world.
i just don't find the depth there e.g one sentence replies, trying to be funny.
PISTOLPETE:
Yes, this kicking out of underage children in the JW religion has been happening for a long time.
It’s nice to know that many have gone on to become happy, successful adults. It does not surprise me that their stupid Witness parents still shun them even decades later.
It really gets me though about those who end up contacting their children because they need money. First of all, I can’t imagine (not having been a parent) how somebody could evict their child because of not believing or wanting a religion. Of course, these stupid JW parents were younger and on their arrogant high horse when they did this, no doubt strongly encouraged by worthless busybodies in the hall…Too bad the fool parents didn’t look at the bigger picture of when they get old and these worthless Witnesses in the hall won’t even be around to help them..as if…
In general, I have NO use for Witnesses who think they are going to ask for money from people who they shunned or criticized (like me).
I can’t know what I would do if I were these grown JW children who have parents who kicked them out and are now asking for money all these years later. I imagine I might help a little DEPENDING on the degree of abuse and other unknown factors. But, we’re talking about flesh and blood here. As for any of the other JW self righteous critics who have their hands out:..they’d be told to move along.

JOE134CD:
The title threw me. I first thought it was asking for instructions on how a person could find that site 🤣.
I realize there are many young people on Reddit and I try to avoid reading their posts most of the time.. I avoid juvenile or silly sounding thread titles but sometimes you can be fooled. Sometimes you’re just curious.
However, I find myself reading a few once in a while and I’m really shocked at how many young JWs are at risk of literally being thrown out of their homes because they don’t want the religion. Some have already been kicked out and need advice, etc. When I was active in the religion I knew of two instances where young JWs were either kicked out Or were compelled to get out because of harassment over the religion. The Witnesses better not deny that this happens.
All in all, I think Reddit is okay and sometimes there are very interesting topics on there that I enjoy reading. I also recognize one or two posters that used to be on here!
do you think the jdubs will start up the door whacking again one day?.
there has to be many inside the org that are dreading having to do that again and as for the general public seeing this, it’s hard to imagine.

CARLA:
Very good post! All these things are true and I’d swear it.
I would have also added: “Be prepared to be scrutinized like you are under a microscope and gossiped about and trashed from time to time by your ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’. Also, give up college/career (especially if you are a young woman). We want servile women around doing favors for Users with cushy lives. So what if you are gullible and end up destitute in old age? You can join the ranks of the other needy in our group with their hands out..We are not accountable if you follow the rules. Those are the breaks. Maybe Armageddon will come in time to save you.”
Can you imagine them laying THESE cards on the table?? Nobody would join. Ever.
friendly and good gorby smiled and waved towards 2 local jw's yesterday, and they turned with an angry face their back to me.

has something changed regarding faders recently?.
BETH SARIM:
Thanks, I didn’t mean to flatter myself but the fact is:..Witnesses think their opinions are important and they imagine that something as idiotic as shunning somebody in a store means something in the grand scheme of things..The reality is that the shunned person might not even recognize them.
MICK BOBCAT:
I believe I was a victim of that ‘marking and shunning’ back in the ‘80s & ‘90s directed at people who were perceived as ‘not strong in the Truth’.
I had a full-time job I refused to quit to appease older hypocrites. I refused to follow in the footsteps of single women there who bought the BS and did favors for all the Users there...They were conned into minding other people’s business instead of their own. (They should have been getting an education and career.)..This was the garbage the religion held out to young single women. Thankfully, I didn’t buy it.
The older hypocrites back then with their pensions or businesses & cushy lives are almost all passed away by now..As for the ones my age (pioneers on a high-horse invited everywhere and who looked down on me because they were expected to)..I hope they managed somehow to prepare for retirement age which they have reached by now!
I’m SO glad I’m not around them now to hear sob stories/appeals for money for those of them who never prepared. I’m not interested. They better go track down their ‘spiritual’ friends and ask THEM for help!

ALAN V & BETH SARIM:
I am almost a 21 year ‘Fader’. For the first couple of years if JWs saw me in stores they might say hello. When they finally realized I wasn’t coming back, I got the ‘cold shoulder’. But, I acted aloof and didn’t care what anybody thought.
I remember being in an Italian deli and when I gave my order and was waiting I noticed a woman standing several feet away who was staring at me. I didn’t recognize her but gave a small half-smile because I’m basically a friendly person. I then realized she was an older lady in a congregation I once attended. (I hadn’t aged that much, but she sure as hell did.) I didn’t say hello because I realized what was going on. I then left with my order. A few other situations similar to this happened over the years.
The point is: what did it matter to me that these people (who I only had a nodding acquaintance at the hall) didn’t want to say hello in some store or shopping mall?? They accomplished nothing except to see me looking well-dressed and with a happy expression on my face.
anyone who has been of this forum in the past few days has seen doubting thomas (an active jw) refuse over and over to provide even one scripture that can show how a jw can get their sins forgiven while outside of the new covenant as described in mt.
26: 27-28. yet, he claims to believe in the blood covering of jesus while at the same time personally rejecting the new covenant "for forgiveness of sins".
his contradictory claims are common among jw's.
EVER APOSTATE:
Very good ad!..That’s really about the size of it..At least most of us on the forum have woken up to this.
I guess I sound like the agnostic that I am. For one thing, I have a low opinion of religion in general after my experience.Mankind’s ‘sin’ (whether Original sin or other sins) is Big business for religions. Many unscrupulous or lazy types who want an easy life without having to work at a regular job like the rest of the population have found a niche…It’s easy.. All that’s needed is for them to convince the superstitious/gullible masses they need them to be ‘saved’.
