Marriage Proposal.
by Englishman ini just found out today that my jw mum has turned down a proposal of marriage for the fourth time.
none of the proposals were from the same guy either, although all 4 were jw's.
i'm also told that mum's considered quite a dish for an octogenarian.. however, i'm also reliably informed that one of the main reasons for her refusals is because of the df'd "state" of my kid brother and myself.. see, she's considered a mature dub, one of the elite, and she also gets her own quiet ration of new light.

What will it gain her? Having some old fart JW tell her what to do,what to read and what to watch, who to talk to and who she can see and for how long?? wash his dirty drawers and socks? bake for the brothers? Yikes....no way
No offense Englishman, I am sure you are part of the reason, after all you and your brother are some of the ones she wants to see.....

Brothers In Good Standing
by Englishman ini heard today that brothers who volunteered at assemblies were only accepted on the proviso that they were "brothers in good standing".
i also heard that anyone reproved or df'd might have to wait for 3 to 5 years before being allowed to clean the gent's loos as a volunteer.. is that right?
what other things are held back from folk who aren't quite up to the mark?.

I remember being "allowed" to slap mashed potatoes or some such thing on endless parades of plates going by the food service line.
I was soooo priviledged to be considered upright enought to qualify for this. PLus I was a single divorcee just coming into the organization and volunteering for the slop line would show my proper attitude and keep me out of trouble.( Translation: since you are a single divorcee you must doubless be h***y and this will keep you from rutting in the parkinglot.)

he now graces my right arm and has been adopted into my family of frog tattoos.

i don't have his faith, or any faith anymore, but i can see how for a true believer that would be a source of strength.. the thing is, a lot of us thought we'd never die.
do you really comprehend what a truly massive mind-fuck that is?

When I was about 6 or 8, I spend 1 year in a catholic orphanage. That experience forever parted me from anything catholic. I have only once since then set foot in a catholic church, and that was to attend the funeral service of a parent of a dear friend of mine.
I cringe when I hear he was attended to by his private physicians etc etc etc when we all know of the proverbial little old ladies that support the opulence of the vatican.
However, I have mellowed with age and I have forgiven THEM so that I can have peace. So may he rest in peace and may his god be with him.
