The tongue split? I've never seen that. Can you wiggle each side separately or do they work together? Can you feel or taste food in the split part?
In time, I'll be able to do some really neat tricks with my tongue. For the time being, I can sort of move each side independently, but I haven't done much practicing in front of a mirror. I can feel in the middle, but I won't be able to taste in it for another month or so. We're actually going back in and splitting further back to further lengthen the two halves. The procedure is relatively painless and there's a lot of bleeding, but otherwise, it heals very quickly.
How big will you make your ear lobe?
my lobes are 1 3/8ths" right now. my goal is somewhere around 2 to 2.25". If I never hit that mark, I don't care. But I do plan to stretch them further.
Does the nose ring make it hard to blow your nose? (I know, gross, but I've never had anyone else to ask).
No problem man. I blow my nose like anyone else, I just have to wipe carefully. Otherwise its not really noticeable.

Oh, kids-
the tongue doesn't affect speech at all. I still sound completely normal. Even when it was freshly done, my speech wasn't altered at all.
And Hillary-Step just gave me a compliment. I can die happy now.

for those of you who know him, i just can't stop obsessing over this yet, and feel the urge to share, our lovable resident hippie (i can say that 'cause i mean it in a positive way and i adore him, so there), openfireglass, has shorn his dreads.
he gave himself a haircut yesterday and the dreadlocks are no more.. it was a surprise that i came home to after work yesterday.

So today I was thinking... and I haven't posted here in quite some time! I came and started reading through some recent posts... and boy have I missed a lot. The whole Trevorgate thing... and Danny Haszard... whew. Well, that's what I get for straying away from the board for so long.
Well, here's an update on me.
Those of you who keep up with me via MySpace or Facebook may know some of this... but I'm in a relationship with a beautiful girl. Her name is Janet. She has a wonderful family who accept me, and I've been able to do some cool things with them, like the other day we made Jack-O-Lanterns.

I've been losing weight. Like a mad man. I guess my weight peaked at like 350-360 sometime in high school, while I was still a dub and eating loads of homecooked meals and not going to the gym regularly. I stood on the scale today and I'm 265. I'm doing at least 25 miles a week at the gym as well as doing the bikes and all that jazz. I can't really find a good before / after picture, seeing as how I wear pretty lose clothing, so it's not obvious. But I've lost probably 8 or 9 inches off my waist and I put an old suit jacket on the other day and this single breasted jacket, which used to have maybe an inch of overlap, overlapped the entire width of my body. I could touch my ribs on either side with the edges.
Ok, well here's me in high school:
and I guess I'll use this one again. I wear loose clothing, so it's not obvious, but its pretty plain to see that less of an orb than I once was:
Ok, and now the last topic of discussion...
About 2 weeks ago, I split my tongue. Before we all get upset, it means something to me. Only about 3000 people in the world have split tongues. Being raised as a Witness, we were always the minority. We always stood out. But for the wrong reason. Now I'm still the minority, but I do it for my own satisfaction. Not for God's / Mom's / anybody else's. Also, the tongue is a large cluster of nerve endings. By altering it's shape, it changes how you percieve certain sensations. It really does (to an extent) change how you interact with the world.

Body Modification...
by bbdodger ini love to login to myspace and see if i can find some ex-jws, or active jws from (my) cong., or ones that i knew from other congs.. i came across a profile of someone i knew, who was in the same congregation.
her name isn't particularly common, and there is a resemblance, so i think it's most likely the girl who i went to kh with.. she says she's "atheist", and has a tattoos on her face, piercings, and her profile is decorated with naked women.

I have just over 90 hours worth of tattoo work, and have 1 3/8ths lobes and 8mm holes in my cartilage, a 0g septum a few other visible piercings.
I was interested in body modification before I left the JWs, but I think what big Willy said hits the nail on the head.
I was never an assimilated member of society beforehand, so why should I be now? I never minded standing out, I just did it for the wrong reasons.
