Wait a second, C.S. Lewis is a very famous christian apologist, not hardly an atheist.
lewis was a lapsed atheist.
but then again, what does it matter? we're all atheists of some sort or another anyways.

i feel that since i have lost all faith in the society, i feel myself drifting further and further into more agnosticism / atheistic thinking.i am finding it harder every day to believe in a god or holy scripture.
i actually feel more at peace now not feeling like someone is watching me.
religion now rings a wicked song in my head that sings of control, power, money, greed, and endless seas of falsehood.

hey free,
good for you. you have taken this opportunity to evolve yourself. just remember that expansion of consciousness continues on. atheism is the starting point of the path to enlightenment that is only yours. a totally unique path unto yourself, in the end.
you can still experience the transcendental, and merge with the infinite. but with your new tools of empirical observation and critical thinking must come a personalized balance in your mind with the magic, so-to-speak. in other words, never forget to experience the magic when it presents itself to you. these are beautiful moments that you should not pass up. however, also remember to compare it to the simplest explanation possible in order to maintain this new balance you have aquired. i believe that this is one of the keys to a happy, evolved, human life. and to this end, i would recommend a practice of focused meditation, for the purposes of centering your mind and body.
nice to meet you,
peace,

before converting to the jw religion, i was catholic.. the jw's made me write to the catholic church and tell them that i found the truth in the jw's, and that i didn't want to be a catholic anymore.
i guess that most of us had to do this.. i remember writting a letter to the catholic chruch and stating verses why i thought they were wrong and why the jw's were right.. maybe i should write another letter to that catholic church and tell them that i made a mistake and that both religions are full of sh*t.. .
.
i've only ever disowned one religion. or perhaps "transcended my previous state of consciousness".
and how could i ever regret such a thing? it's a natural evolution when one embraces the natural.
peace,
tetra
i don't often open up discussions on my beliefs or experiences in life, but i feel a need, so please excuse me if you feel it untoward.
neither is this a poxy swan-song, i'm just opening up my heart a little.. today i had cause to reflect on a conversation i had with my [now ex-]wife shortly after my epithany.
everything was so new and unknown.
Regardless of where we think we may or may not end up, to me it's all about love, light, and life,
beautiful stuff Ross. it's been a pleasure to know you my friend. you have obviously had an experience that illuminated and enlightened your being. i am sincerely glad for you. :)
peace and blessings,

hi everyone just a question to satisfy my curiosity , and if you are a non believer are you happier for being so
Any Buddhists here truely truely believe in the whole kit n kaboodle of Buddhist teachings? Like, Maras, hell-beings, hungry ghosts, reincarnation, knowledge of past lives, existing enlightened beings etc ...?
hi kudra,
what i like about buddhism, is that addherence to specific doctrine is not a must to be on the path to enlightenment. the way of the buddha is but one path. the path for others is unique to the person. i take what i like from buddhism, what i have reason to believe is consciousness expanding, and infuse them into my path. as far as ways of being go, i think buddhism is highly evolved. but the path is natural, as natural is all that exists. i don't see the point of stagnantly following a religious practice without evolving on it, as to not evolve is to die, mentally. the path only goes forward, right?
the book Siddartha by Herman Hesse illustrates this so well in my opinion.

i am an atheist to gods other than the cosmos itself, of which i am a part, therefore a demigod by definition. an atheist to "supernatural" gods. a "theist" in respects the trillions of other demigods on this planet, namely all other organisms with whom i share common ancestorage in the genetic tree of life.
i also practice buddhism and hinduism.
empiricist by day, transcendentalist by night (or, to split the mind for purposes experience)....which is to ask in essence: "do you believe in magic?" not sure yet. agnostic to "the magic". still searching as honestly and objectively as possible. well, i should say objectively by day, subjectively by night. ;)
and yes, i am happy when i find my Self, my being, in the moment and no where else. "peaceful" might be a better word for it. i find myself at peace more and more with the here and now, the world, and what is neither up or down, but always forward. and peace comes from a lucid understanding of our true nature, and the world's true nature. when we are at peace with these things, and the fight against them is finished, one might be ripe for expansion of consciousness. transcendence as some call it, to intuitive knowledges and cosmic symbology. this is a peaceful place because it's assumptions are harmonious with our most probable nature via evolution. and yes, this makes me happy, because for the first time in my life it feels like real progress.
peace

i see that quite a few are following the dreadful attacks in lebanon.
today i went swimming to cool off with mr c and we were discussing what ways we could make our disapproval and anger at israels actions felt, besides being human shields.
(mr c reckons i'm big enough to stop one missile, but would be pretty useless after that.
