without attacking anyone for their beliefs, feel free to state what you believe in right now.. personally, i still believe in a higher power, a creator, call him jehovah if you wish, a god that will put things back right eventually.

in my case, i never did much research or read alot of apostate literature to get out of the jw religion.
all i looked at was their heart and how they treated me.
that alone spoke for itself..
Re: How deep did you search to finally quit being a JW?
Good question. I'd have to say that it was a instinct thing at the time of my leaving; the whole thing just didn't seem right. I mean, I believed as I was brought up to but I had my doubts, my own ideas and too strong a desire to do what I wanted to do. Of course, parts of the trip involved denying certain rules of the road, trying to negotiate two opposing lanes of traffic, being fueled by anger, passing through depression and so on. But I digress. The roots went deep and I tend to think some parts will be there always. S'alright. Part of the former self.
what makes 100%?
what does it mean to give more than 100%?
ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%?
Funny coz it's true,....
:-)

i was talking with a person who was a jw for over 20 years, served in the org, and then quits after finding out it wasn't the truth, becomes athiest almost overnight after reading many books.. gee, thats a quick change....

That is somewhat radical but sometimes it's like that. Those moments of "clarity" can hit rather hard and effect big changes. Was this person a dub from birth or joined of free will?
BTW, Twitch......................Happy Birthday to you.
Thx Delilah. :-)
recently my psychology professor (who has experience with deprogramming people from cults) and i have been discussing whether or not he would be willing to proctor a support group for ex-witnesses?
i live in the upstate ny area (binghamton to be specific), any takers?
i am also giving consideration to making this an online forum where questions/problems could be handled during chats sessions or via email...
As JGNat mentioned, there's Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/ as well as MSN http://www.msnusers.com/home which are both easy to setup, moderate and allow private groups. For online hosting, there's also EZ board http://www.ezboard.com/ and a few others I'm sure.
If it's a more localized thing you have in mind, Meetup http://www.meetup.com/ is a site that promotes local meetings and online discussion of special interests groups, of which xjw "chapters" are quite prevalent. This site is open to everyone, there is a fee and the boards aren't/can't be moderated.
Good luck with your group should you go ahead with it. Admirable
i've never quite understood the big deal about men leaving the toilet seat up but since i hear so much about it i try to comply.
i do have a pet peeve.
sometimes when i lift the seat there are obvious signs on the underside that a female has used it and not bothered to 'tidy up'.
:-)
More importantly, do you know yourself?
about 50%
wait, there's a test?
i've noticed that there are certain songs, movies, memories, etc that make me sad.
there is even a category of music we call "sad songs".
it seems obvious that we would never listen to something that makes us sad.
Music is a powerful motivator and inspiration, ('course ;-).
Some songs are forever associated with people or times in my life, be they happy or sad songs. I like em both. It's good to remember.
