I feel sad when someone relatively new on this board signs off because they have been offended by some posters comments
by smiddy inmany people who" become jw`s" through the ministry are people who are , at the time , in a vulnerable state.
{ lets face it had you been in your right mind you would never have accepted it right ?}.
many of the people who are" born in" are by that very fact vulnerable they never had a chance and were indoctrinated from an early age .. of course their going to have a lot of issues to deal with that history shows can take many years to shake off,if at all.. all i`m saying is i think we should give people a lot more space, and allow them to see the bigger picture that we can show them on this site, give them time to absorb the information thats available on this site, some of the things you learn here is a bit much to take in at first, beleive me i`ve been their .

I admire noobs who post that those who don't agree with their particular set of morals or beliefs are stuck in a WT mindset. That one never gets old...
And if you've never dealt with a borderline and want to play the game, have fun.

Clear distinction of people on JWN
by cptkirk inthis has been an interesting science project to say the least.
here is what i have learned:.
you have about 6 types of people posting on jwn, they all fit into a profile.. #1 you have people like me that ran the race, exemplified conduct while in the jw cult and learned through observation that there was a severe disconnect between truth, and the jw cult's statements.

Nice pics. Geddy is awesome. Great style and tone. I curse him when trying to cop his riffs, lol
I like the Wal bass(es) he's used. Not much of a Rick fan myself.

As a kid, I thought about kid stuff, 'course. Star Wars figured prominently for a time and I'd sketch space battles on whatever, lol. I'd watch other people and how they portrayed themselves and interacted. I'd wonder what makes them the way they are and would imagine their daily lives. I'd go over number stuff in my head, like times tables, basic geometry, etc and would think about number problems. I'd replay movie scenes I liked and "jam" with songs I'd heard. Sometimes I'd make up my own song in my head.
As a teen, I thought about girls.
Then I left ;)

Atheists..... throwing the baby out with the bath water ?
by snare&racket inthis saying permeates this forum with higher frequency than most.
despite being an open atheist amongst lots of religious people in my life, i have never been accused of doing this and i have never heard this saying attributed to my choice... appart from here.. i thought it would be best to clarify why i (and i assume others) decided to leave the bible behind after leaving the wt society.. realising the wt society was wrong desroyed my world, for me it meant so much.
i had given so much to it too, it just had to be true!

"Faith, in the religious sense of the word, refers to maintaining belief in something for which there is insufficient evidence to justify holding the belief. Where the evidence is sufficient, we have no need for faith. But when we want to believe something for reasons other than because the evidence warrants our doing so, faith enters the equation"~~~ Ben Stein (I believe)
"faith" is often used as a substitute for "hope", "trust" or "belief".
So needing "absolute proof "would undermine the whole concept above !
Interesting quote and one I agree with. Faith is not based on evidence, by definition. Personal experience and belief, yes

The questions that led me out of belief in the god of the org were not answered by belief in a slightly different god, or any for that matter
