Stop being scared....
by PaulMarshall ingod morning from a beautiful and sunny london.
it has not gone unnoticed at the many people on this site that have documented their fear of the future.
afraid of the present and certainly afraid of the future.

Kudos to sir, you are a jeweller of words
"The now when you think about it IS the future."
This train of thought took me from dubtown to freeville, lol. -

Are you happier out of the org?
by dobbie inhi everyone i was just wondering if those of you that have left the org for whatever reason, have found your'e much happier than when you were in it?probably a daft question but i tried to talk to a friend about how i was feeling about a few things and why i don't go to meetings and she said would i really be any happier out than in?it just got me thinking about why i joined in the first place, because i was lonely and down, although i still am several years later it seems!have you found life better on the outside?did you feel a sense of freedom or was it really hard to adjust?when i try to explain what i find hard in the religion they can always say something back that then makes me think i was wrong in the first place and it is the truth after all - aagh!

"Tripping Billies" - Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds (live version kicks)
"Flake" - Jack Johnson with Ben Harper (nice outro jam)
"Maggies Farm" - Rage Against the Machine (the most obscene funking groove)
"Shakin' All Over" - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (delay pedal freak)

Computer Game Recommendations
by Uzzah inokay, i used to be the guy with all the latest gadgets in fact i was the first bethelite i knew to get a personal internet account and the first to upgrade to a 14.4 modem (dating myself eh!!).
but for the past couple of years i haven't upgraded my home pc.
it has been primarily for my home based businesses (email, word, excel and powerpoint type stuff and casual browsing) so my faithful p2, 10 gig hard drive and cd reader (only) has been sufficient, but damn it i want to be able to do more!

Civ IV is awesome. I've played the whole series and this one is the best by far. A very similiar game with more friendly user interface is Empire Earth, but it's a little older.
Battlefield 2 is awesome online if u like FPS. VOIP for squad communications, good vehicle and aircraft handling and wicked graphics if ur machine can take the heat. BTW, the best FPS is Ghost Recon (2003). AI squad command, top notch motion capture animation, realistic ballistics, awesome audio samples and opensource for weapons mods and maps. No vehicles, aircraft or fluff, just pure tactical simulation.

Were YOU Depressed When You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini've seen soooo many witnesses taking meds or alcohol because of unhappiness and depression.
i know of one woman who regularly gos to her shrink and is the most depressed person that i know of.
personally, i believe it's because a jw can never do enough to satisfy god or the elders....what do you think?
-
Twitch
ummm, yea
i left in my late teens but i recall feeling much like what i know now as depression. how much of it was that or being a teen and/or dealing with the constant fighting and knocking heads over dub issues is hard to say. more of the latter i would say as that was the most difficult and confusing issue. but i had alot of the symptoms. i turned my frustration into learning an instrument, obsessively at the time as i recall. no regrets there, it kinda saved me in a escapist/challenge/rebellion kinda way. -

The quickest, best way to have a Witness open their eyes to being a cult
by free2beme inmy sister was probably one of the most loyal witnesses out there.
all her responses were pulled right from the watchtower thinking, "sorry you feel that way, but i believe jehovah's witnesses are god's people.
" well in time we came to an agreement, "you do not bring up your negative thoughts on the religion, and i will not try to get you to come back to the religion.

Quandry, Serendipity and Parakeet
Thanks, i appreciate it. I respect them for not shunning me with extreme prejudice and mostly just smile now at the pamphlets. To each their own. I've had to come to terms with them and this whole thing in the last few years, somewhat due to my facing my own demons and in part to their age and the reality of life. It is short.

Movie lines...
by Justice-One inwhat movie were these lines from?
"chris knight: if you think that by threatening me you can get me to do what you want... well, that's where you're right.
but - and i am only saying this because i care - there's a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.

"I want my two dollars!" - Paperboy, Better Off Dead
Another classic '80s flick. I especially loved the scene where the slacker postman is walking up, Hendrix cranked on the walkman, dropping mail and giving it the ol "ehh". Tax dollars at work,....lmao. Or the scene where John Cusack is getting ready to hang himself behind the door his mother opens while vacuuming, unintentionally knocking him off the box (or whatever), oblivious to her son dangling behind her in another failed attempt. A dark comedy classic, lol. -
