For me intelligence doesn't tell me anything about a person, it's how they apply it... common sense/wisdom that's what I look for.
I know plenty of intelligent people that have no common sense or the wisdom to apply the intelligence they have.
Fortunitly for me I'm not intelligent, but I do have a little commom sense, still working on the wisdom part.

When I look at history, I would say no.
But I"m an optimist, I may never exsperence world peace in my life time, buy some time it could happen.
It all starts with "one ". like, you, me... to bad their are those who don't like diversity of beliefs or culture and try and tell you the best way of living.
But who knows , maybe one day people will become enlighten enough to respect other peoples "Rights" to "Life" "Liberty" and the pursuit of "Happiness".
As long as our pursuits don't infreign on the "Rights" of others. So we should be allowed to do what ever we want, even to our own dimise.
Maybe one day, who knows?

I'm no more or less happy now, than when in WTS.
I'm always happy that's why, my happiness has never been determined by outside sources, but what's on the inside. That's where my happiness comes from.
Happiness is a state of mind, not a place.
I was happy before, during, and after the WTS.
Being happy, and having truth are two seperate things, I left WTS, not because I wasn't happy, but because it wasn't the truth.

i found this web site while researching jws (my immediate family on my dad's side is jw, except for my dad, who was subjected to the programming from birth, and who seems to be caught in some strange world between the jw world and the real one).. for the most part, these are decent, kind, loving people.
the only problem is that they are jws!.
i myself am atheist, so in theory i should them to be atheist also, but i'd gladly settle for steering them into a different form of christianity.. anything but jw.

after reading all those threads and articles about how much money the wtbts has squirreled away and invested and after volunteering to serve birthday cupcakes and punch at a homeless shelter run by the combined efforts of first presbyterian church and first methodist in downtown dallas, i have decided that i want my money back.. i want back every single cent that i ever contributed to that jabba the hut of an organization that just sits on its money and never uses a penny of it to benefit its members or the rest of humanity.
i want back the $10,000 that my dad "loaned" the society in the 1970's that they -- 10 years later -- strongly suggested he just give to them to save them the trouble of writing a check.. i want to be paid for the 13 years of regular pioneer service that i wasted on that organization.
let's see, at roughly 100 hours a month (that's what the requirement was back then), 1200 hours a year times 13 + 15,600. hmmm, okay, i'll take minimum wage for it -- isn't that $6.50 an hour now?

Sounds like a Class action suit.
The nice thing about the WTS inc. and it's subsidiaries, they keep records, like field service records showing the time you put in.
So if we all get together, we could file a claim for disception and fraud.
As Jw's we were expected to live a certain way according to WT doctrine.
But it's been discovered that the WTS inc. has double standards.

we were reading in my health sciences class about how there are regulations governing how many white blood cells are allowable in milk, given that dairy does in fact contain some white blood cells (which are a primary blood component not a fraction) i am surprised they have never banned dairy.
(though i realize the blood policy has taken a few hits in recent years anyway).
anyone know if they have stock in any major dairy companies or a reason they aren't using this as an opportunity to take even more control of people's lives?

One cup of wholesome milk should not (by law) contain more than 50 million pus cells. That's 200 million pus cells per quart (liter). Pus in milk? YES , A dairy cow filters ten-thousand quarts of blood through her udder each day and uses dead white blood cells (somatic cells) to manufacture her milk. These dead cells are pus cells.
Dairy scientists are aware that when one quart of milk is tainted with 400 million or more pus cells, some 35% of the milking cows in the herd are infected with mastitis. Udders bleed, discharges, including bacteria and then red blood drips into the milk. The average quart of milk sold in the US in 2003 contained 322 million dead white blood cells.
And, if milk is actually white blood, should we continue to drink body fluids from diseased animals?
The average dairy cow produces 24 quarts of milk each day. That's 8,760 quarts per year. That's nearly three trillion blood cells.
Milk is loaded with lots of bacteria and millions of white blood cells (pus cells) which are there to help fight off the infections found in cows and milk (1)
Will the 2003 Unified Marketing Plan specify money to inform you of this upsetting information? You will never see an advertisement with a famous movie star proudly wearing a white mustache, properly labeled as containing 300,000 white blood cells and 25,000 bacteria.
Dairy products were the foods most often recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from the period October 1, 1993 through September 30, 1998 because of contamination with infectious agents, mostly bacteria. (2)
They are commonly tainted with disease-causing bacteria, such as salmonella, staphylococci, listeria, deadly E. coli O1573 and Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (4) (possibly one of the agents causing Crohn's disease; a form of life-threatening chronic colitis), as well as viruses known to cause lymphoma and leukemia-like diseases, and immune deficiency in cattle.

Trying to explain why those receiving the milk were in worse calcium balance, they said, "this may have been due to the average 30 percent increase in protein intake during milk supplementation."
