Welcome to the world of fuzzy math. All of the archeological and secular evidence points to Nebuchadnezzar ruling from 605-562 BC and more importantly the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC.
hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

an elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.
he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.
i got goose bumps listening to his reasoning.. dy
If the WTBTS is so concerned with numbers and $$$, taking this clean-up approach will hurt them in a big way.
DY
I disagree, it's a business. The bottom line is money. They can play with numbers all day, that?s why someone can report 10 min. a month and still be counted. But the money, pretty much the only ones hurt by this drive by DF?ing would be faders. I?m willing to bet faders are not flushing money down the toilet and giving up funds. The WTBTS?s money won?t be hurt.
as a jw, we?ve been taught that preaching is a direct command from jesus, but is it?
who was he talking to?
in matt 28 he was talking to the remaining apostles.
As a JW, we?ve been taught that preaching is a direct command from Jesus, but is it? Who was he talking to? In Matt 28 he was talking to the remaining apostles. And that is the only place it is phrased as a command. It could be argued that the only ones under that command would those under the ?new covenant.? That is who is words were directed to. If that?s the case preaching is a choice not a command to us lowly publishers.

i have been thinking about why the change in the way df?d and da?d are announced, then it hit me.
i know in my area more and more are choosing to leave on their own terms (da).
i believe the "fds" are starting to see this more and more, when this happens, some "faithful" will be more prone to question, "why?
Chapter 14
DISASSOCIATION
The term "disassociation" applies to the action taken by a person who, although a baptized member of the congregation, deliberately repudiates his Christian standing, rejecting the congregation by his actions or by stating that he no longer wants to be recognized as or known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Because he is disassociated, his situation before Jehovah is far different from that of an inactive Christian, one who no longer shares in the field ministry. An inactive person may have failed to study God's Word regularly, or because of experiencing personal problems or persecution, he may have lost his zeal for serving Jehovah. The elders as well as other concerned members of the congregation will continue rendering appropriate spiritual assistance to an inactive brother. (Rom. 15:1; 1 Thess. 5:14; Heb. 12:12) However, the person who disassociates himself by repudiating the faith and deliberately abandoning Jehovah's worship is viewed in the same way as one who is disfellowshipped. A brief announcement is made to inform the congregation, stating: "[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
Concerning those who renounced their Christian faith in his day, the apostle John wrote: "They went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us." (1 John 2:19) For example, a person might renounce his place in the Christian congregation by his actions, such as by becoming part of a secular organization that has objectives contrary to the Bible and, hence, is under judgment by Jehovah God. (Isa. 2:4; Rev. 19:17-21) If a person who is a Christian chooses to join those who are disapproved by God, a brief announcement is made to the congregation, stating: "[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." Such a person is treated in the same way as a disfellowshipped person. The presiding overseer should approve this announcement.
HadEnuf, the change is not to say ?so and so has been DF?d or DA?d? but the change here below.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF DISFELLOWSHIPPING
When it is necessary to disfellowship an unrepentant wrongdoer from the congregation, a brief announcement is made, simply stating: "[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." There is no need to elaborate. This will alert faithful members of the congregation to stop associating with that person. (1 Cor. 5:11) The presiding overseer should approve this announcement.

I know a few have mentioned "legal implications." I don?t believe there are any. A private group (religion) can pick and choose it?s members. A good example of this is allowing women to play golf in Augusta, Ga. They can?t discriminate on race, but are free to do anything else.

I have been thinking about why the change in the way DF?d and DA?d are announced, then it hit me. I know in my area more and more are choosing to leave on their own terms (DA). I believe the "FDS" are starting to see this more and more, when this happens, some "faithful" will be more prone to question, "why?" Asking, why, will lead someone to do the one thing the WT fears most, research to find answers to their questions. With the announcement change, the distinction is no longer there. Hard core witnesses will assume the announced was DF?d, thinking that no one in their right mind would choose to leave the truth. Any thoughts to this?
sorry folks if i missed this somewhere before, but isn't nisan 14 supposed to line up with our current calendar on april 23rd?
i didn't go to the memorial last night so i do not know if they tried explaining this difference.
i always thought that nisan 14 was the date that they used to celebrate the memorial.
I found this, a Jewish leap year?

Interesting, I can't find one source that puts Nisan 14 on March 24
Look at this: http://www.jewfaq.org/current.htm#Nissan
