i just want to let you know about my new website.
i was raised jw and disfellowshiped at 16. along with a few of my own experiences that i relate, i interviewed fourteen people raised jw for my senior thesis in college.
after quite some time i have finally gotten it up on the internet.
Welcome Marie, and good luck with your website. The more sites available to help new ones coming out of the organization, the better.
so i just registered and i thought i should say something about myself instead of just lurking about.
i'm 21 years old and i left the the jw's when i was 18. i was born into the religion so it's been really hard getting use to things.
my story is pretty complicated and for some safety reasons i can't say to much.
Hello and welcome Sarahbear.....cute name...glad you found us. It seems there are "crooked" elders and other so-called "sheep" everywhere, in every congregation.....I also know a few of them....dirty, low-down rotten scoundrels!!! Their day is coming, believe me. I want front row seats, and I'll make the popcorn, LOL...Hang in there girl!!
one of my dreams is to one day making to cairo egypt and see the great pyramids.
i want to see a lot of things in that area, as well as other parts of israel, and the middle east region.
i have been into history, for as long as i can remember.
I've thought about this many times, and as much as I'd love to see Egypt, I think I'd pass on traveling the middle east for now. One could argue, that I could step off the curb and be hit by a car, but that's a risk I'd rather take, dying in my own country. I don't relish the idea of being taken hostage, or being blown up in a market, in some eastern country.
Hopefully one day, the unrest will cease, and I will travel to these beautiful cities....if there's anything left to see of them.
last night, i was struck nearly head-on by a person attempting a left turn as i passed through the intersection.
i was injured, as well as the other driver.
the police told me that he broke his arm, and was in shock.
Sorry to hear of your accident, Jim. Hope you are on the road to a full, and speedy recovery.
today i was at burlington baby depot registering for my baby shower, stolling up and down the aisles and scanning.
low and behold, down the aisle comes a dub.
as soon as she set eyes on me, she backed out of the aisles as fast as she could, as if i was throwing poop at her.
It's like you've suddenly grown horns that protrude from your forhead, and they are sure you ARE the devil in the flesh!! I've had it happen many times, and it's hilarious. I looked around to see if I also had a tail and pitchfork at my side....silly people!! They don't realize just how ridiculous they look.
Half the time, I don't even see them, until I hear a sudden hustling about, and then I see them scurrying to get away.
i just had a flash back to when we used to have to clean the kh.
each group had to take it in turn to do the cleaning.. in our group we had a bunch of lazy b*****ds, so it was left to us kids and our dad to clean the kh, bogs, etc.
even my mum used to find some excuse to duck out.. so if meetings, door knocking, studying, praying wasn't enough we also had to spend a couple of hours cleaning every month or so.
when i went to a new hall the group that i took was well surprised when i got a hoover, duster, window cleaning stuff etc and actually did some cleaning along with them...seemingly this was quite a novel approach for an elder to take. Ian, you're one of the very few. I cannot ever remember seeing an elder do his part in my old KH. No kidding. It was usually the women and children.
they say that in women (physical) looks are the most important factor for attracting a mate whereas for men it is other things eg personality, wealth, status, as if there are a lot more aspects to male existence.
.
so how would you choose (or did) choose a mate, eg was a woman's physical side of paramount importance or did you also weigh that seriously against character personality, culture, etc.
Of course I noticed my husband's brown eyes, they twinkled and danced, when he smiled at me. Then I noticed he had big, sexy hands. For some reason, any guy I ever dated, had to have nice, big hands.
I've always liked the bigger guys too, They seemed more funny, warm and kind.
