Hey Tetra....I've liked you many posts on evolution. Youz one smart cookiey! LOL
Have you ever thought about putting together a 14 or 20 page brief on evolution? You could publish it on a web page or whatnot so we could always have it handy. My personal belief (even when I was a Dub) was that God created the big bang and evolution took over from there. If only my parents could see my 10th grade biology argument that argued for BOTH creation and evolution. But my point is....evolution was never that "big" of an issue for me so didn't really dig into it as deeply as you (and others) have. When I now debate with other Creationist A**holes it'd be nice to have a reference of "non-professional" type writings.
What say you y'all?

by gringojj ini am trying to explain to my muslim brother in law how evolution works.
all he ever does is tell me how darwin was wrong about things and he seems to equate darwin not having all the answers to mean that evolution isnt possible, then seems to default to creation as fact.

****President Confuses Science and Belief, Puts Schoolchildren at Risk
Yes the Prez has a hard time sorting Science (provable fact) with belief (fakery)
Hmmm....imagine that a Prez who can't figure out fact from fiction when it comes to Iraq.
The War on Terror?!? Come on....we have a war on "terror"? I suggest you turn FOX news off and delve into more fact/fiction issues this Prez has. -

How can people like Def'd stick around here?
by ithinkisee inhow can people like defd be here and see all the blatant lies by the society and still accept it?.
607 bc and 1914 are based on complete falsehood, and are only borrowed from the adventists and millerites.
the trinity brochure took almost all of their sources out of context.

Sleep? What's sleep?
I'd kill for a week solid of 8 hours a night that I could actually sleep. My insomnia has been really out of whack the past month or two. -

Fox
Genera and species: Vulpes Vulpes
Collective Term: A skulk of foxes
Description
Appealing and cerebral and of average size, the fox is a close relative of both the wolf and dog personalities and displays typical canine qualities of loyalty, passion and creativity. Largely misunderstood to be a shy, retreating individual, it's the fox's unique stature as a small carnivore that defines its survival strategy. Because it cannot succeed in the world using brute force alone, it must rely on its sharp mind and engaging personality to garner resources, and it consequently spends a lot of time in its head -- giving the impression that it's trying to outsmart its friends. So the fox is often surprised to learn that its intellectual pursuits are intimidating.
So, the fox tempers its serious nature with a sardonic sense of humor and engaging playfulness while interacting with its eclectic community. It expects others to be as honest about their strengths and shortcomings as it is of its own, and while these high expectations don't make the fox a snob, it expects its friends to first demonstrate their worthiness before returning the favor with loyalty and devotion.
Foxes are typically successful in the work place but their competitiveness and ambition sometimes makes coworkers feel belittled. They would never deliberately take advantage of others, but their single-mindedness often blinds them to their feelings. So they thrive in their own businesses and like to surround themselves with family and friends in these ventures. Although they demand consensus in all decisions, they dominate discussions and steer the plans to reflect their own agenda.
A discussion with a fox is invariably stimulating and challenging. Its great curiosity and worldly experience makes it a wonderful conversationalist and it's able to hold forth on a number of different topics with ease. Sometimes, however, the fox will view a conversation as a competitive challenge, which proves to be off-putting and annoying to its companions.

BETTER TO HAVE LOVED AND LOST

Losing someone (either to death or breakup) is a painful process. I have only loved 3 people in my life. When the first one left I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to move on. I was also scared that since I had never loved someone before that he might have been the only I could love. That was very scary. I had been with him for 7 years. It took me almost 3 years to be able to date again. Boy #2 up and moved to Japan....that was hard too, although we had only been dating for about 2 years. I married #3....so if he goes it will be quite awful. Funny thing is on #3 (hubby) on our 2nd date I knew he was "the one". Odd, because I never believed in "the one" crap. Maybe I'm just getting to be a softie in my old age. LOL.
I am still very good friends now with boy #1 and #2. It took time for me to get over both of them and be able to salvage a friendship. I appreciate them now for what we had. I still miss each one just a little bit for the various unique things we used to laugh over. But wouldn't trade my hubby for the world. As Billy so eloquently stated....we cherish the moments we have together.
Life isn't fair. But right now, life is very good. It's nice having a lover, a friend, and a partner in crime. I've been blessed with more than anyone can ask for.
My first ex taught me this. When he left me for someone else it hurt....and hurt so bad...but then I saw the devestation he went through when the person he loved died of cancer 3 years ago. He got bounced hard. He still isn't over it yet, but slowly pulling out of the pit of despair he's been through. This person went from completely healthy to dead in under 10 weeks. Granted at least they had time to put their affairs in order but still, thinking you have an eternity because you are both young and healthy (supposedly healthy) is an illusion.
Also, it made me realize how little protections we as gay people have. He was denied access to his lover because his family didn't like the fact he was gay and didn't like my ex. So he got shut out of the hospital alot. The nurses would let him slip in after visiting hours when the family wasn't there. Very, very sad! They also had the nerve not allow him to come to the funeral....can you believe that?
So my long answer to the topic at hand. Yes it is better to have loved! We only have so many opportunities in life....let's make them count. -
