Remind her that as you have already been baptised she can't count the time. If you can't avoid it, have a couple with her. She'll get so utterly sick of the idea that she'll drop it within weeks.

Someone needs to shout the dangers of the Society off the roofs!
by escaped inthe world doesnt know how dangerous or divisive the cult is.
i woud liken it to "jim jones", but the death of the members is emotional and longer as they lose their identities, families and potential futures.
they rip your life from you to further their agendas and the hell know what those agendas really could be.

Help Me Please !!!!!!!!
by Maddie ini need some support and advice with my situation and hope you don't mind me going on a bit because i feel wretched!
i hurt so much with my jw family relationship and find it so frustrating that whatever i do or say doesn't make any difference.. my son and wife had a little girl 9 months ago, my first and only grand child and i love her so much.
when she was born my hubby and i helped them a lot wiith buying all the expensive things she needed, as my son hadn't a well paying job as being a die hard jw he believes in the "education and career isn't what you should be doing propaganda" put out buy the wt.

This happened between my mum and my oldest sister. They just fell out over a series of minor things, but when my sister got a couple of babies she only had time for them. I occasionally remind mum that she rarely made time for her mum either, when we were growing up, she was too busy with mothering and doing all the JW stuff, and now my sister is doing the same thing. I get the feeling now that mum is too much work emotionally for my sister to be able to handle it, I know I can't myself. Don't be hard to have around.

Has my mom given up?
by Princess Daisy Boo inso with the memorial a mere 3 days away i was not heard a word from her about it?
each year i am told at what time it will be at the local congregation and some years she has even got one of the local witnesses to contact me to invite me (they even offered to fetch me once!)..
i am assuming that she has decided not to bring up the subject after the talk we had a few weeks ago, but this must be eating away at her big time!.

I think that you might be reaching a point where you're both assessing what you're getting out of the relationship; since you're not part of the most important thing to her, and she's not interested in being around you because of it. A relationship can't be very deep when there is this massive incompatibility. That takes a while to get used to.

Hello, I'm new...
by IcingHeart ini just joined this forum today after reading the comments on today's watchtower (which i have to attend in about an hour unfortunately).
i was raised in "the truth" and it was only recently that i began to listen to a close friend of mine as he pointed out the secrets and lies that is the watchtower society and governing body.
even though he was informing me for almost a year, he never gave up on me.

Surge in "anointed ones"
by dozy inthe nightmare scenario is slowly unravelling for the wts.. since 1935 , wtbts policy was to shut up the kingdom of heaven by implying that any new anointed was at best misled & at worst a fake.
franzs replacement theory did little to help matters.
this suppressed many jws from becoming anointed.. recent wt articles & changes in thought has resulted in a surge in jws claiming this status.

I'm thinking that there will be a 'literal' 144000 class of some kind and 'figurative' 144000 class of another.
*sigh*

Drinks with my father last night...
by bluesbreaker59 inok, so i've been df'd for almost a year now, and out of the blue my dad asked me to go out for drinks with him.
this is big because he's an elder in my former hall.
he's only seen me once in the year i've been out, at my (step)grandfather's funeral (his father in law).

Wow, that is a big deal. I was worried until I read the last para about you not wanting any kids to have ANY JW influences. You will have to make sure that you prioritise the wellbeing of your kids way above that of your father. Set the rules as you say; no kids without you also. Meals: with you. Outings: with you. No exceptions. You'd be a family, and he can't pretend that you don't exist just because he wants to be a grandad. He had to be a dad first.
The complex balancing game of parenthood though will need you to watch for this; kids are attracted to what is forbidden, and if it's also what their beloved grandfather loves, they'll be very confused.

JW's and Homeschooling
by superman inin the mid-to-late 90's i remember the new trend was that a lot of the people that were jw's started pulling their kids out of regular public school and started homeschooling them.
the absolute worst were the kids who had been homeschooled from kindergarten all the way until they graduated.
those poor kids were the most weird, unsocial, naive, sheltered, unadjusted, and uneducated kids i'd ever met.

I have to agree (although you've sure opened a can of worms here!)

Intro: I'm ONE of Jehovah's Witnesses
by caliber infrom the very first introductions to strangers we were reminded, (for a good witness to god of course)=(wt) that yes.
indeed i am one of jehovah's witnesses.
even as a fully dedicated believer through the merits of my own workmanship i might add i did not see that my religion.

That's funny; even now when I see on this board people describe themselves or somebody as A Jehovahs Witness, I mentally correct it to One Of Jehovahs Witnesses, and I didn't ever get the distinction myself either. I just thought it was more grammatically correct.
