hi i was wondering if anyone can answer this for me .i am not a jehovahs witness .
i have a friend who is a jehovahs witness , and claims that men and women cannot be friends .i am sure that jesus was friends with females , and i am also sure that some of the anointed had friends of the opposite sex .i just don't know how to go about to finding something in the bible to back up who is correct .thank you for any input .

Blondie, that just goes to show you how stupid they are! Some people are foaming at the mouth when it comes to giving counsel or reproof, but not when it comes to commendation or encouragement.
Minimus, you are right about letting JWs know they do not have to meet with the elders. We give them way too much credit. They're only men, no more infallible than anyone else. But I had to experience my committee meeting to realize that I owe them nothing. I'm still fragile, scared of them at times, but I'm getting stronger every day.

I know this will sound gross, but she may be saying that because she is full of lust and can't contain herself. My mom would say that men and women couldn't be just friends either. There was this sister in the hall who wasn't the most attractive, and sometimes she'd drop by the house while my brother was there. My mom always insisted on being in the room because, "Jehovah created the sex drive to be strong, because of procreation. You never know. She may not look good to you now, but you spend a lot of time together, and before you know it, you've committed fornication." Your friend may think the same way.

Ahh, didn't you love those local needs parts? You never knew when you were going to be chastised for not doing enough.
Once our local needs talk was on "porneia". It appears an elder's daughter had gotten herself in some trouble, and tried to get out of it by claiming she didn't know oral sex was porneia. As long as it wasn't actual penetration, she thought it was OK. At least that's what she said. Well, it worked for her, but they made sure that everyone else couldn't get away with it, so they had a graphic talk saying all oral, anal, and any other kind of sex/touching was all porneia. I was sitting next to my mom, I was 13 years old, and I was humiliated.

i have been making jewelry for as long as i can remember.
for a few years i earned a living making jewelry and traveling to art shows to sell it, i even had one of those liitle carts in the mall when i was 17...ran it by myself.
i stopped making stuff for a while but i have recently restarted my business and it is taking off!

i may have mentioned this incident before.
please bear with me...but it's one of the things that really showed me the lack of love and concern.. shortly before my mom kicked me out of the house, someone that i had trusted (my foolish mistake) turned me in to the elders, saying i was "espousing apostate ideology".
never mind that this person constantly complained about the elders and went to less meetings than i did...but anyway...their "encouragement" consisted of telling me, "the reason why you're becoming so bitter and angry is because you're not doing enough in field service.

Tij, it was mentioned that "we'd love to go out in service with you", but no one ever really asked me. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, I didn't want to go. I don't think I could ever do it again.
Incidentally I was with my BF this weekend, and we saw some Dubs on an RV. He could see my body tense up, and he said, "Relax, babe. I got this covered." Thankfully they didn't come to his door.

Your situation is that your thoughts are not consistent with the action of going out in field service. They are hoping to compel you into an action that will alter your thoughts and bring you back into the fold.
Good point, CYP. I never thought about it that way. Well, it didn't work. Failed miserably actually. I just feel angrier and angrier toward them.
