i just don't know what to think about the whole thing. honestly, i do think it's great that doctors will have something legally substancial when trying to convince a dub to accept a transfusion, and i'm sure this will help the case of many outside the borg who have lost loved ones (maybe even a few inside). but then i remember what a strong hold the borg has on the r&f. chances are that when this news hits tv and newspapers and whatnot...i'm pretty sure that the society will know well in advance and will pull the same thing they did w/ the Dateline broadcast about child abuse. there will probably be a couple of special needs parts about apostates infiltrating the media and crooked lawyers and doctors who want to bring down the borg. by the time this news hits the media, the r&f will be so callused against any bad news against the borg, they will ignore any negative statements made and dismiss any bad publicity as satan and his demons trying to bring down gods earthly organization. hell, who knows...the borg could even play this one off as another sign of the end...the legal system trying to mess w/ god's chosen ones.
i'm sorry...i'm not trying to be a killjoy or anything. i respect barbara and appreciate her informing us of this big news...but i just don't see how it will sway a dub who is as rooted in the borg such as my mother. and even if people do have good well grounded legal cases to sue the borg w/....it's just so expensive to get a good lawyer or two, then you have to throw in court costs, and all the other things that come w/ suing someone. i could be wrong about that though...i've never actually sued anyone.
i dunno....am i wrong? does anything i just said make any sense?...............maybe i was just wishing to hard that it was something like overturning the shunning policy. maybe i decided too soon what i would say when i talked to my mom for the first time in over a year.**sigh**
luv, jojo (of the don't count your chickens before they hatch class)
