Abortion is only legal in 3 countries, the US, Canada, and Cuba.
A radio talk show I was listening to last night brought up a point that made me really think....if this law goes through...then that means that the only legal abortions will be for women whose lives are in danger. But then what about the rape and incest victims?....

Changes to the Shunning Practice ? We have just been spoken to !
by twinkletoes inwe went to lunch at our local cafe on saturday, and there were two families - still jws, also dining there, (in different parts of the cafe).
we expected the usual shunning treatment, but surprisingly they initiated the "hellos and how are you" and seemed genuinely pleased to see us (we have been out of the org for over 3 yrs now and we are always shunned whenever we see former jw friends) it was such a surprise to us and we couldn't help wondering if the governing body have issued "new light" on the treatment of disassociated ones.
especially as these two families have completely avoided us for a long time, even though we personally wrote to them to explain our reasons for leaving (un involvement etc+) .

Actually a recent WT study article did recommend that JWs reach out to inactive JWs more. So I would see a change there.

Did you buy new clothes for the Memorial?
by MsMcDucket ini was just wondering how many people went out and bought new clothes for the memorial.
did you feel like it was a festive holiday like easter or did you just feel like it was another meeting that you had to attend?

that was the only reason i found the memorial half way bearable. i loved going shopping and getting a new dress and new shoes. my mom and i would start getting ready around 4pm, and by the time we left, we were looking HOT!!!
i always felt so pretty on memorial night.

Do JW's elders really want to know what kind of "sexual activities" you did
by booker-t ini know many ex-jw elders out there have the first hand knowlege of this but i was wondering do the elders really want to know everything you did when you were engage in sexual activity that got you in front of a judicial committee when you were a jw or now.
i have heard horror stories of the elders wanting to know did the person have an "orgasim" did they perform "oral sex" did they perform "anal sex" etc; i can't believe that a person could be so "nosy" as to want to know what a person did in the bedroom.
i know a girl who is now df that i work with and she said that one of the elders asked her what size penis did her boyfriend have and did she prefer "small" or large penises.
