I read it earlier this year and glad I did in spite of how hard it was. After reading that and some of the writings of Rutherford and finding out some of the history of the organization that has been swept under the rug I can't tell you how sick it made me feel. I wish I had read it years ago.

What Decisions Did You Make Only Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini believe that most jws are deep down inside angry over the fact that they went along with the status quo and the majority just to be accepted.
some witnesses would like to have a tattoo, a mustache, a shaved head, a beard, a new red sportscar, etc.
but they don't because they would be viewed as "immature".

I didn't pursue a lucrative career since the Armageddon was just around the corner. I didn't smoke (pot or cigarettes). I didn't date or have sex [even though I could date, there were hardly no choices of other JWs in my area since it was rural and I was already related to half of other single people]. I didn't associate with a lot of people who gave a damn more about me than most of the people I attended meetings with.

Where are you on the map? New Maps
by Lady Lee inok there are so many americans on the map now i had to split you all in half.. valis was kind enough to let me place the maps on his website until i found a new home for them.. photobucket seems to be a good option - at least for now.
so i have uploaded the new maps which have been updated to include everyone who has asked.. so if you were wondering where we are from.
or how close you are to other jwd posters in your area just take a look.

The March of Gay Rights
by truthseeker inbelow is an interesting editorial on the march of gay rights, how it got started, and how it's radical members seek to make changes in society.

Avishai:
What you said is true. There are also many people who think they never are around any homosexuals at all since MANY of them blend in all around them unbeknowst to many homophobic people. Look how many people here are gay and were JWs but other JWs didn't know there were gays among them? And when I use the term gay or homosexual I define those terms as people who are sexually attracted to members of same sex. I say that because while I was an active JW I may have been homosexual but I did not sexual relations with anybody; that came a few years after I started to fade.
So, that being said, if somebody was to find out that one of their longtime best friends are gay and have been for years, they would find out they are just regular people and not just the type of eccentric people you might see dressed up all flamboyant marching in a wild parade waving a rainbow flag.

It never hurts to bring up a subject again since there are so many new people posting and more than likely new lurkers who haven't seen the older threads on subjects like this.
But like Joelbear said, like everybody else, most gays are to busy making a living and living their lives to try to push an agenda. At least I know I am. As far as people pushing for gay rights and if you ask 3 different gay people you will get different answers of what that means to them since there are different shades of gay (sexuality isn't just "heterosexual and homosexualstraight" or "gay"). Some gays want marriage and some gays are against it; preferring domestic partnerships.
I personally just want human rights, the same rights as any other human being regardless of what I do in the privacy of my own bedroom.

Can JW beliefs contribute to suicide?
by TD init may sound like a strange question, but aspects of jw behavior that are incomprehensible to outsiders actually make a morbid kind of sense when viewed through the lens of jw doctrine.
for example, about 10-12 years ago there was a single mother in my wifes congregation.
during the course of conversation, she learned that my wifes grandmother had recently passed away.
-
littlerockguy
I knew of two people from two different congregations that I went to who have committed suicide and other JWs from both same areas who have died under questionable circumstances and with other suicides cases in the organization that is as possibility.

(A widely cited 1978 study by Alan P. Bell and Martin S. Wineburg reported that 43 percent of homosexuals had more than five hundred sex partners during their lifetime.)
I wonder if a similiar study was done on heterosexual men. I know of lots of heterosexual men, married and single who who have strings of illegitimate kids and sexual partners. What a biased and unbalanced article.
Have gays made any progress? Not as long as people like the ones writing this article spreading this shit around and the silence and apathy of people who don't care if anything is being done about it or not.
