Back in the early 80s before I was baptized, it was their policy to formally "disassociate" (disfellowship) nonbaptized publishers if they engaged in conduct that would warrant disfellowshipping in baptized JWs so back then it didn't matter if you were baptized or not. They changed the policy after I was baptized in 1987. BTW, been wondering where you been fats. Good to see you again :) LRG

Can shunning or marking extend to the un-baptized?
by Fatfreek ini have a non jw friend who has a jw sister.
they were both raised jw.
while he is not shunned he feels alienated because of his refusal to accept their truths.

This week's KM guilt-fest
by StillGroggy infor anybody who attended the service meeting this week (or will this week)
notice the guilt-fest article that mentions not working overtime at work or taking weekend trips and missing the meetings.
ugh, any former witnesses remember looking down on people who went to the beach or took trips frequently on the weekends.

Frannie:
I know how excited you must feel!! I finally got to see my youngest brother about 4 years ago for the first time after my mother had him put up for adoption. It was strange but also exciting seeing a younger sibling I have never known before but looked like me more than any other relative I have! Congratulations!!

One of my favourite scriptures is when, after some of the disciples stopped following Jesus, he turned to Peter and said "You are not going to leave also, are you?" Peters reply is simple and yet very powerful. He said "Where shall we go, you have sayings of everlasting life". Yes, Peter knew he had found the truth.
Scottsman:
I challenge you to go back to the scriptures and read it again. In John 6:65 It says "To WHOM" not "WHERE shall we go". Peter is talking about Jesus having the saysing of everlasting life and being the truth and not an organization of self appointed men to keep having to retract many of their lies and false assuptions. The watchtower society has equated the organization to Jesus Christ himself and they are two separate distinct things.

Whatever Happened To THIS Belief?
by Sunspot inas jws, we used to be told that "when they are crying peace and security, the end will come".
nothing indicates that this will be happening any time in the near future, but the "new" tract would seem to make people think the "end" will be soon.. has the wts changed this "peace and security" teaching over the past few years?
if they have changed their thinking, how have they worked their way around that one?.

They will bring it to the forefront if the UN or a policital figures mention it enough in the media. I remember back 20 years ago in 1986 how wild they went when the UN declared 1986 to be the internation year of peace. They even updated the Peace and Security book and issued Watchtowers with a clockface at 3 minutes till armageddon, LOL.

Dubs out with kn37
by fullofdoubtnow ini just took the dog a walk, and saw 4 dubs at the top of our street, trying to place kn37.
this is, of course, the first official day of thecampaign, so i expext to see a few more of them than usual over the next few days, but it's not often i see them at this time of day (3:10pm when i spotted them).
they all know me, and when they saw me walking towards them with the dog, who does admittedly look a bit fearsome, being a pit bull/staffordshire bull terrier cross, they looked a little nervous, as if they thought i was going to set him on to them.

Researching the WBTS is painful and shocking
by restrangled inafter lady liberty gave a link to the new re-examine site, i found some details that are so disturbing its boggling my mind.. first, the original presidents were voted in, but not one vote per person but for every $10.00 contributed you received a vote.
so those already in power and with much money had tremendous sway as to who got in and who didn't.
this little scheme was not stopped until 1944.. so when rutherford was "elected by a unanimous vote" we can assume it was mainly of his own doing based on money contributed.

I would love to bring this kind of information up to some JWs if they come to my door to distribute their stupid tract; I wonder how they would reply to a lot of this stuff. There is no end to the lies and deceit of this organization. Just makes me sick.
