  Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!

  yes, there’s a post on reddit.

  it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.

  this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

  If I was still in the org now and if somebody came up to me asking for money to support those in the "full time ministry" by giving them money I would come unglued.

  I remember times when I was still an active witness in my early 20 struggling during bad economic downturns and spending time couch hopping at a friend's place (a "worldly" friend at that) temporarily. It always bothered me that they would collect money for elders, pioneers and overseers but when rank and file publishers had financial problems and stuff all they would do is share scriptures like Matthew 6:33. Sickening.

  Now when an uninsured young person (or millions of illegal aliens crossing our border requires care (emergency room) they cannot be denied care (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1986) but in the end the hospital has to deal with not enough revenue to keep the hospital open and sometimes have to close down.

  any opinions are just speculation, but my guess, being morbid, is that there was not a hull breach and implosion (although that would have been the most merciful fate for them), but instead the amateur level of building this thing meant that it lost power and communication and got itself tangled in the titanic's wreckage or is sitting on the actual seabed with no way to release ballast to resurface.

  The planet has been headed toward it, or at least trying to, for at least the last 100 years.

  Read Captains and the Kings by Taylor Caldwell. Published over 50 years ago it is very spot on with what is going on today. Has a good list of older books listed in the back of the book for further research into the movers and shakers of the geopolitical power structure of the past 100 years.
