Blondie: Interesting point about wedding rings. I even remembered in the Revelation (was it 88 when that was released?) book one of their quoted sources they used in their research for that book mentioning wedding rings, etc. being of pagan origin but they never speak against it when those in the cong use them in their ceremonies, hmmmmm

Can you be disfellowshipped for taking a yoga class?
by TweetieBird ini was just wondering since i've started taking a yoga class.
not that i would mind being df'd but not ready to lose the family.
i lost my wt library cd so i don't have access to the society's stand on yoga.

anything that has roots or that is in any way connected to eastern philosophy or mind over matter is controversial to the organization; so if you was to do that you would be labeled weak and probably not good association within the cong

In My Opinion...
by OldSoul inin my opinion (for the sake of sixofnine and his propensity toward apoplexy):.
it seems to me that while there are many issues that we could address regarding the watchtower bible and tract society/governing body/congregation of jehovah's witnesses, there is one that stands out as uniquely given to ease of communication.
i would like to take this opportunity to state which issue and why, then invite open commentary.. the issue of the watchtower bible and tract society attaching itself to the un/dpi.. while i readily agree that this is minor in importance compared to matters like child molestation and failed prophecy, i see this as the easiest to bring up, the easiest to substantiate, and the easiest to demonstrate long-term gross error in.

EvilForce: Those are good points you made earlier. I quit going to meetings myself for some of the same reasons you did; their flip-flop over issues and silly rules they had that were not even scriptural (guys could not have a beard or goatee, or if they did, they could not be used in the cong) and the 1914 chronology being wrong which they conveniently caught that error only after the prophecy they came up with was a failure and many of the ones "used in the cong" didn't practice what they preached so I saw no reason to sacrifice myself to this religion or lifestyle so the reason I left didn't have anything to do with my sexuality but eventually it would have.

Things you wouldn't hear or do at the Meeting for Field Service
by findingme inremember getting out of bed saturday morning, silently cussing to yourself because you really had no desire to go out in service?
especially on a saturday, when you would prefer to sleep in or just bum around?
or even go to a yard sale?

I may have said that at one time; oh, I hated going out in service on holidays

by loosie in.
what is the most ridiculous song that you couldn't listen too.. because of so called bad lyircs (maybe misheard lyrics), sexy beat or because fo the person who sang it didn't have the proper morals?.
mine.... couldn't listen to ac/dc because it meant they went both ways.

Is Generation Y hurting the WTS?
by Elsewhere inthe wts is pushing the "youth" message more than ever as their growth numbers start to stall.
is generation y the primary reason for this?.
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20050412-121457-4149r.htmgeneration y embraces choice, redefines religion.

Yeah, I wonder what they could possibly say to today's youth, especially ones getting ready to be turned loose out in today's competitive world. Forget a worldly education and take up a job cleaning houses and mowing lawns and wait for armageddon to come, or if you are from a well to do JW family live off your parents income and pioneer? Most of today's kids would run like hell from the crap we were fed; keep seeing the kingdom and everything will be added including everything a 3 income household usually gets Im sure, lol. I can go on and on but I'll stop for now.
