What is a friend?
by tsunami_rid3r inwhat do friends do?
is this an essential witness related issue?
my congregation was very cliquish and many times i would be forced to hang out with certain people or have no one at all.

When it comes to sharing information with a friend, how much do you share? How much do you keep secret?
This has happened to me a few times. Recently, a Friend talked about their Jehovah's Witness friend (not I) in conversation, and I just sort of listened in silence. Is your past as a witness something to tell someone? Perhaps a friend?
I've shared before, but I'm no longer really friends with this person. We've grown apart and I just feel like he just knows something dirty about me.
Now today, I shared with my boss whats troubling my life. This took place in a ride in his car. We discussed a raise for me. Was this personal or business, but I have also partied with my boss. The work atmosphere is more team like, so I wouldn't really call him a "boss". -

He who is thy friend indeed,
he will help thee in thy need.
If thou sorrow he will weep,
If thou wake, he canst not sleep.
Thus with every grief of heart
He with thee doth bear a part.
These are certain signs to know
faithful friend from flattering foe.

I observe my parents, and my mom doesn't hang out with anyone. It doesn't bother her it seems, and my dad, being disfellowshipped, I've heard of him hanging out with another business partner on the weekends, or with a few girls at work, or stay in touch with a few of the cool guys in the congregation.
Now my parents always went by the rule of trying not to hang out with their friends too much like everyday.
And when I think I had friends, back when I was little, I would always go and play at this dude's house. My group would always hang out at my house. We would do stuff like drink for the first time, play video games, play sports, or go to the movies.
When I started making worldly friends, I would go to concerts with them, go to parties, or just hang out at the mall. In college, its mainly partying or going to the movies or clubs, or eating out. Or just smoking some weed.
Now I don't do that much, except for attending birthday parties at a house or club, or just going out for one night with a buddy of mine at work. But its just that. I don't do much hanging out or eating out with others. All I do is party with all these people. Is there more to it? -

Whats unusual about an undergrad attending a prof/grad student party?
by tsunami_rid3r inso i've been hanging around the professional crowd for a while, its much more funner than hanging out with people my own age.
like tonight, i was the only undergrad at my prof's party.
it was cool too because i got to hang with my profs at a more chill setting.

I'm doing this for a number of reasons which could go back to how I was raised or other factors at present.
I always liked hanging around the older crowd. Maybe its my upbringing into an older congregation with a few alright people my age. I remember I use to always take piano lessons from this elder.
I was very proactive in the congregation, and the elders always used me for parts. I was the first of my age to give a number 2 talk. After my dad became a witness, he was used a lot too and I would help him.
I mention privileges because it reminds me of what I'm doing for the grad students and my prof. Same situation, different context?
Another, the people at this university is starting to bug the shit out of me. Worldly people still suck. Today I had to listen to some sorority girl's phone conversation in the computer lab. All I have to say is she's a dip shit so I put on my headphones. Now I'll admit there may be a few cool people here, but I'm being very wary about who I talk to. Basically, people here remind me of the witnesses.
Now the grad students and profs, I think they're cool because they share the same views as me and they seem like the worldly type that I would think of when I was a witness.
I'll admit, I want to move to the top fast. I want my PhD now, and I will do whatever it takes. Is that bad? Should I watch myself? -

Zeitgeist - anyone for a discussion?
by Shawn10538 ini am starting a sort of campaign to get this movie distributed and have as many people as possible get exposed to it.
the documentary is in 3 parts.
part one deals with the pagan mythological origins of bible myths, part 2 is about 9/11 and supports the theory that the towers were demolitioned and part 3 deals with the federal reserve agressive take over in the 1920s by international bankers.

I'm being sued for moving out of my apartment
by tsunami_rid3r inif you don't remember my move out 3 months well, long story short, things weren't working out for my roommate and i, and we found someone to take my place.
he signed the papers, and i moved out.
he backed out of the agreement, and so my ex-roommate is left paying all of the rent.

Alright, my ex-roommates mom is wanting money, and so she is trying to take the guy that backed out and I to court. The guy seemed to have hired a lawyer, who is also a friend of the family, to have the case settled and avoid going to court.
So its not a big deal really, only a matter of having money. -

Legal documents were signed by both parties.
