slimboyfat: I did respond to Steve2's issue. I said I went back over all my topics for the past 5 years and only saw the one on the blood-ban Big News thread that was sort of sensational, but at the time I meant it to be because coming from where I had been, it was a first against the WT's blood ban that was significant and it still is significant. All my other topics were names of articles or books, announcements of events, or other misc. material. I didn't even announce or make a big deal about my appearance on NBC NIghtly News and someone else alerted people to this program I was on. When I looked at Steve2's topic titles, his were similar to mine. Why this silly argument that accuses me of doing something constantly, something I deny and which I shouldn't be commenting on as it is too dumb for words.

In addition, Steve2 took a strong stand against "The Submission," and it now appears that he was upset with me that I was once again sensationalizing something not worth the paper it was written on. He has a right to his opinion, but I won't stop putting news about the Watch Tower on this discussion board unless Simon tells me not to. Maybe I should PM you and Steve2 to ask about how I should title a thread or if I should post it at all; then maybe both of you will be happy.

And you took issue with how I introduced the Australian Submission topic? You agreed with another poster, who had exactly two posts to his name, the second one on the Australian thread, that I was "crazy." Come on now, it's pretty ridiculous what you did. In the subject title line, the words I used came from Steven Unthank's blog-site. They weren't my own words. In the introduction to the information, I used 55 words which didn't bother anybody but you in that I supposedly spoke in the third person voice, something I didn't even realize I was doing late at night when I was tired. Further, I explained in a post meant for you that the information posted came from Andersonsinfo as a reporter not as a person who was personally involved and had taken sides. You are making a mountain out of a molehill and enough is enough.

I have nothing against Steve2 that he is gay. You know nothing about me and how I feel about gays. I have a lovely, endearing friend, like a daughter to us, who is gay who we're here for in thick or thin times. Three people tried to tell you what is meant by what I said. I think you're in England and Steve2 is in New Zealand and seem not to understand what we are trying to say. Please accept that the expression, "drama queen" doesn't mean what you think it does, but you refuse to let this drop. What's going on here?

No more will I comment on this and I'm only doing it for the people who are reading this thread besides you and Steve2 so that they know what this is all about.

Yes Loz, it beats me too why anyone wants to be rude or offensive about my topics when I put information on JWN every so often or about the way I announce my topics.

Steve2: You have posted 3,285 times including lots and lots of opinionated commentary along with blaring topic announcements and I've posted 655 times with information that I thought was informative for former JWs.

What really surprised me is your saying that there were people that hated me on this board. That's strong language coming from a registered clinical psychologist. Do you want to talk to me over the phone and give me some advice from you, a mental health expert, on how to make people not hate me when starting a new topic on JWN?

I looked back at all the topics I started and most of them were without commentary but contained articles I thought of interest to former JWs. You have claimed time and time again in your posts that you like JWN for the robust alternative ideas and commentary, but, yet, you as a psychologist have a deep problem with my style of passing along information. I looked over all the threads I've started in the past five years and a few have headlines to captivate attention, especially one about Big News regarding the article in the Journal of Church and State. Yet, you say I'm always doing this! This really seems to bother you and maybe you should find a therapist or something. What's with you and "slimboyfat" who said I always talk in the third person, and I do not. I sign most of my posts, Barbara, except when it's an interesting article that I post and that's done without commentary or signature. And I couldn't find one time I posted the way I started off last night's Australia story, but if I did that out of 655 posts, what's so bad about it?

Personally, I think you are rude and offensive and a drama queen! In answer to this statement of yours regarding my posts that are: "annoyingly breathless announcements such as "Anderson information has learned....." I've lost count of the number of times Mrs Anderson has announced that either the state legislature and/or media are on the cusp of exposing the Watchtower Society and that this time it will really shake up the Watchtower Society," I believe you have gone overboard with your generalizations and in this way attack my character and intent.

Are you doing this because I'm a woman (not a man) who climbed the Watch Tower ladder to the top and now pass along the information to help prove that this religion is a sham that terribly hurts people? I'm not a psychologist who went to university to learn how to help people with mental problems, but I wouldn't think of writing about another poster as you did to me and about me. I think there are JWN rules that you can't attack someone like you did me. And usually posters attack posters who use pseudonyms and that's not permitted if a certain line is crossed, yet, you did it to me whose name everybody knows and claim that it is your right to do so.

You think you have that right on JWN, but I'm old fashioned enough to believe that you as a former JW with new freedoms of expression should be respectful of others and what they are doing to expose the inner workings of WT. Maybe you should take up your cause with the owners of JWN and tell them how annoying I am to you. Or, tell you what -- just don't look at my infrequent posts, Steve2, and that way you won't become so irritated that I also am permitted to post on JWN too in such an "obnoxious" way. That's all I have to say about this so rant all you want as you are only hurting the image you have carefully crafted for JWN readers that you are liberal and magnanimous towards all.

I found the following letter to the Australian Prime Minister that Mr. Unthank sent last year extremely informative, especially about a ban on the Watch Tower Corporation would not be a ban on JWs. Read it for yourself after the word, "NOTE"" (I put the information in bold so it's easier to find but the rest of the letter is exactly as it was written.)

LETTER TO PRIME MINISTER

16 October 2010

The Honourable Julia Gillard,

Prime Minister of Australia.

Prime Minister Gillard,

This is a formal letter submitted on behalf of all peoples of good will for the purpose of seeking protection for our children.

The issuing of this letter has become necessary due to the fact that Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and its parent organisation Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. (being part of the committee of management for the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Australia) have been engaging in the committing ofongoing indictable criminal breaches of child protections laws across the length and breadth of Australia.

Within the State of Victoria alone this has amounted to over 6 millionINDICTABLE CRIMINAL OFFENCES against children since 1 July 2008 by their refusing to comply with basic mandatory minimum child protection laws as legislated within the Victorian Working with Children Act 2005 for “religious organisations”.

Each offence carries up to 2 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $132,144.00 per “an offence”. This amounts to over $800 Billion dollars in potential fines.

Victoria Police and the State Government of Victoria are aware of this and have chosen to protect Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and its parent organisation Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. over and above the children within the Victorian community. This is unlawful according to Section 38 (1) of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 and a violation of these children’s human rights.

Every single day of inaction results in at least another 5,000 to 8,000 individual INDICTABLE CRIMINAL OFFENCES being committed by the Watch Tower Society against children alone. This is preventable.

It is hereby requested that:

An immediate Order-in-Counsel be granted declaring the corporation Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and its parent organisation Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. to be criminal organisations; and

An immediate Order-in-Counsel be granted banning the corporation Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and its parent organisation Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. from operating or continuing to operate within the Commonwealth of Australia and its territories.

With reference to the document “To the Commonwealth of Australia…” which contains a document titled “To The Supreme Court of Victoria, A Submission for the Protection of the Children, Families and Members of the Religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the State of Victoria”, it is hereby requested that:

Caveats be put on all properties owned by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and its parent organisation Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. within the Commonwealth of Australia and its territories; and

A Court Order be sought for the purpose of freezing all assets owned by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia within the Commonwealth of Australia and its territories; and

A Court Order be sought for the purpose of freezing all offshore assets owned by Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia; and

A Court Order be sought for the purpose of freezing all assets owned by Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. within the Commonwealth of Australia and its territories; and

A Court Order be sought within the United States of America for the purpose of freezing all assets owned by Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. and any subsidiary corporations, including but not limited to Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.

NOTE: Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia, while it is classified as a “religious organisation” it is in fact not a religion but is a corporation subject to and operated under the Australian Corporations Act 2001.

Section 116 of the Australian Constitution (free exercise of religion) does not apply to corporations and their activities or to their directors and officers when acting in the capacity of directors and officers of a corporation.

An Order-in-Counsel banning the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia IS NOT a ban on the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses of which members are indeed protected by Section 116 of the Australian Constitution.

No action is being requested against the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses, of which said religion is a subsidiary of Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc.…

In the Sunday Herald Sun newspaper of September 20, 2009, Mr. Eddie McGuire, in his Focus column wrote concerning those who commit criminal offences against children:

“Now it’s time for our politicians to do what I believe most of them entered politics to do in the first place—make the place better. Long after the branch stacking and back-room machinations, real leaders reflect on their legacy. The old line that “the biggest person is the one who bends to help a child” rings true . . . Australians are slow to move sometimes, but when the time comes, when the people and the leaders of our community say “enough is enough”, then it is amazing how quickly things can turn around.”

The time has come. Enough is enough.

As a member of our community I stood up, along with members of my family, to protect our own children, the children within the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the children within the State of Victoria. We took the action needed on behalf of every child and their parents and on behalf of every member of the community and on behalf of the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses. For doing this the Watch Tower Society threatened our family with extreme harm and detriment and then actually tried to wipe us out.

Evil triumphs when good people do nothing.

Accompanied with this letter is a 332 page document titled “To the Commonwealth of Australia…” which contains a document titled “To The Supreme Court of Victoria, A Submission for the Protection of the Children, Families and Members of the Religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the State of Victoria” and of which said document outlines the criminal activities of Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Australia and Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. et. al. and the lengths they have gone to in carrying out their criminal activities, not only in relation to the threat to wipe out my family, but also to “further their oppressive schemes against the people and to sustain and screen their unlawful operations”.

On a personal note, Joe and I believe that Steve2 is entitled to his opinion as we all are. He has made some good points, but so have many others. Until the dust settles, we're keeping an open mind and refuse to be influenced by anybody's personal opinions. As more pertinent information comes out, it appears that Mr. Unthank's blog-site is the place where he's putting it so we'll look there as often as possible. http://www.jwnews.net.

Thank you skeeter 1 for bringing over to JWN Mr. Unthank's replies to questions asked by many posters about his Submission and why he wrote it the way he did. His explanation was helpful.

Certainly, we hope that what Mr. Unthank is doing will not "unintentionally" create a "backlash" of support for the targeted group or that his actions cause "a beleaguered group feel 'special' and persecuted." Maybe Mr. Unthank will discuss this point on his blog-site too.

Joe and I are like everybody else here -- We want to know more about any present reverberations, if any, from this Criminal Charge and future Indictment, if that should happen against our least favorite corporation, the Watch Tower of PA and its corporate entity in Australia.

Mr. Unthank explains on his blog that what he's doing is for the protection of 2,500 children of JWs in Victoria. His reason was my reason for taking a stand against the WT to help protect the kids of JWs including my own grandchild from JW pedophiles, so I have empathy for him now at this time. From reading the 664-page Submission, both Mr. Unthank and his brother were child sexual abuse victims of an elder by the name of Taylor who still is in good standing within the Watch Tower organization. His frustration with Watch Tower leaders and with the authorities to have justice done is apparently the catalyst for Mr. Unthank's actions now as he doesn't want what happened to him and his brother to happen to any other JW kids.

Are you two saying I'm crazy, kramer and slimboyfat, because of the way I introduced this subject? That's terribly unkind and I'm so surprised at such nastiness especially coming from slimboyfat whose many posts I have come to respect. I post in my own name, not like you two who hide who you are, so I have to be careful of what I say on this board so not to bring the wrath of some posters down upon my head calling my motives into question when all I am is a disfellowshipped JW who has chosen to take on in my own way the lying actions of the Watch Tower.

When I started this thread reporting on what Steven Unthank was doing in Australia, I specifically posted as AndersonsInfo and not Barbara because I was passing along information, not wanting to get into the frey or argument of whether this man's submission had merit or not and so I took the position of being neutral like a reporter. I had the "silly" notion that the way I opened the "thread" was important to my credibility, but I see that some did not understand the situation and considered me crazy. Believe it or not, I sought advice about how to present this subject because the legitimacy of this cause was not available to me. The way Mr. Unthank presented his case using all the religious statements did sound very strange to me, yet Watch Tower was clearly breaking the law so this situation needed to be reported upon.

I love this discussion board but have chosen not to post on it often except to pass along information because I simply don't have time to do otherwise. That's why I chose AndersonsInfo as my avatar. That's all I'm going to say on this subject and hope that the discussion of the Unthank Submission is put back where it belongs in the forefront. I suggest that for now, killing the messenger be put on the back-burner.

Oh, by the way, it costs money to have the back-ground check and since every baptized Witness is a "minister," each one has to pay the fee.

The Catholic Church has complied and all volunteers plus clergy have complied. If all these people have their "cards" and JWs don't then the law should be done away with because it's unjust and unfair. Why bother to comply with a law that lays down sanctions --a fine and jail -- for those who won't obey the law when that law has absolutely no teeth. It would seem that if this issue becomes public, the government will be assailed more than those not obeying the law.

There is a new governmental administration in Victoria and it will be up to the new governor and also for the premier to get justice done in this matter. But we all know that Watch Tower is very powerful and they will fight Mr. Unthank all the way up to the Supreme Court or whatever court they have in Australia to settle situations such as this one. The Watch Tower attorneys were notified March 1st of Mr. Unthank's Charges and I wonder if they are worried, or laugh at the audacity of Mr. Unthink to take them on knowing that they have the power and influence to beat back a government regulation that is not in their best interests to adhere to.

Perhaps, Steve2, if you set time aside and read the 664-page "Submission 2011" you will find Mr. Unthank's discussion about the police taking no action against the Watch Tower for non-compliance. It's a very interesting read. In fact, in my first post on this topic, I included remarks of a high-ranking police official who showed indifference to the issue when he said:

"If any members of the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are concerned about the [sexual or physical] safety of their children then they should leave the church."
- direct quote from Sergeant Ralph Walker, Victoria Police liaison officer, March 2011, in relation to criminal breaches of the Working with Children Act 2005 being committed by the Watch Tower Society.

For what it's worth it has been my experience that it is wise to have a wait and see attitude before passing judgment. No one is saying that Mr. Unthank's action is a slam-dunk but it looks as if he is stirring up a hornet's nest and it will be fascinating to see who will get stung. One thing I do know is that we definitely don't know all the facts because Mr. Unthank hasn't revealed them all yet. I understand that he's keeping many items to himself for the time being.

We will continue to follow this story with interest.

Yes, Justitia it appears you are right but Australian law allows for this type of action, or so I'm told. I was also told that Mr. Unthank acts as "prosecutor" too which to me is very unusual as compared to US laws. It is confusing and that's why the personal replies from politicians to Mr. Unthank were included that seem to indicate that what he has done is acceptable. One thing for certain, the Watch Tower is in non-compliance with the law since 2008. I looked on the Internet to see if I could find out what the other religions have done in this regard and they have complied. Why Watch Tower hasn't is a mystery. Perhaps we will be hearing their reasons for not doing so if they have to appear before an Australian magistrate.

Posting this information about "The Submission 2011" was sure to generate many comments and questions here on JWN, but it is news that surely would interest all of us and to see if it has validity.

I think it's this:

"The week commencing Monday, 18 April 2011 is the earliest date set down for the filing of the following document: "Charge-Sheet and Summons (Corporate Accused)" against the Committee of Management for the Religion of Jehovah's Witnesses."

I'm quite unfamiliar with Australian law and we'll need Steven Unthank to explain this or an Australian legal expert.
