Couldn't find it but here's another one, but this MSNBC article quotes Candace so it's been updated.

The Watchtower Punished: Society loses legal battle over child abuse case
by cedars init's taken a while, but i've finally managed to put up an article on this remarkable court case.. a link to my article is below:.

i've tried very hard to make the article as factual as possible by reading and comparing the various documents available.

Wonderful article Cedars. You sure have a way with words.
You could have knocked me over with a feather when I was reading your article and all of a sudden there was a photo of Joe and me. You were right on the money in your description of me in regards to my attitude about WT's negligence of children. Joe feels equally strong about this as I do.
BTW, he's my support in all I do and when it comes to elder expertise he's right on. We try to be fair to our former friends at headquarters, many times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt in this mess, but they really have no excuse for the very stubborn belief that obedience to certain scriptures in the Bible is more important than the lives of children. It's easy to see why the "James" book had to go because it just didn't fit in with the beliefs of the cloistered men of the WT who love their insulated lives more than they do the flockās well-being.
Thanks Cedars for being out there somewhere with pen in hand doing your thing too.

RubaDub, I inquired about Kendrick too. He moved and is in another congregation and was in good standing. No one knew except the elders (previous to the trial), about his past and the year he spent in jail.
I communicate with Candace Conti and her absolutely wonderful mother. Candace's contact information can be obtained. She is one great gal! Contact me Cedars. It appears that Candace is determined to follow in my footsteps and stay busy exposing the evils of the borg, so WT will soon have two of us to deal with. I always told myself that I needed to be cloned to keep up with all the demands that have fallen in my lap, and finally someone has done it except I'm in a 26 year old body. Can't beat that one.

Plaintiff awarded in punitive damages -21M & 1 dollar. Total award, 28M & 1 dollar. Here's more info
by AndersonsInfo inthe plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

wa happened?, Yes, MagwichCuckoo is correct. I asked the same question and found out that the statement that the WT had a written policy which instructed elders in its congregations to keep reports of child sex abusers within the religious group secret to avoid lawsuits has reference to that July 1, 1989 BOE letter. That letter was recently replaced by a new "legal" letter that Atlantis introduced us to here on JWN a few months ago. It does not have a sub-topic on child abuse as the 1989 letter does. On page one, the April 9, 2012 letter states next to number 4. "Direction on handling child abuse matters can be found in separate correspondence."
I just looked at the 1989 letter and I'll leave attorneys in the future to discuss where that policy is stated.

Dagney, sir 82 is right but the answer is not on another thread but in this one in my opening post.
Attorney Rick Simons, told the jury that an award of three times the compensatory damages was appropriate. (For practical purposes, the higher the award, the higher the vulnerability to appellate attack). The jury respected that, and added the $1 as a clear statement of principle that they wanted to award more - and that the status quo needs to change. Those involved believe the jury would have awarded Candace $100 million if they thought it would be upheld. That's how egregious and abhorrent they believe the secrecy policy of the Watchtower is.

DNCall: You said
"the apportionment used for regular damages may not be the same as for punitive damages. I belive the special verdict item that triggered punitive damages was that Watchtower acted with malice."
This what I was given to understand and until I hear differently, this is what I'll go by. If I'm not correct, I'll post the new information.
wa happened: The smoking gun? If I understand your question correctly, it was as I've contended for years, the confidentiality policy of the Watchtower, or as the law firm's press release highlighted, the secrecy to avoid lawsuits. The jury was appalled by the "secrecy" aspect of the Watchtower.

Zoiks: Not to my knowledge but the announcement of the jury's decision for punitive damage wasn't expected by the press until this morning. It was a surprise for everyone concerned when the jury did a quickie. (I received notification last night between 8 and 9 P.M.) I think it was a bit earlier when the judge was handed the decision. I did my best to notify some media late last night and I would expect that the local press received the news late last night so we might see some articles there soon. When the first important article shows up, then we can use it to spread the word.

This amazing result could not have come to a more deserving young woman. Candace has such a genuine concern for others, and her focus in this journey has always been making sure other children don't suffer the torture she endured.
