to introduce you to the excellent memoir, "leaving the saints," by martha beck, the majority of the following three paragraphs have been copied from inside of the books front jacket, except bracketed material.

leaving the saints is an unforgettable memoir about one woman's spiritual quest and journey toward faith.

as mormon royalty within the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, martha beck was raised in a home frequented by the church's high elders-known as the apostles-and her existence was framed by their strict code of conduct.

thought you'd like to know that today at 11 am pacific standard time, which was 1 pm tennessee time, i was interviewed for an entire hour by mark furman on 1510 kga, the big talker show, originating in spokane, wa, population 250,000. former jw, linda jahn, was interviewed from 12:00 to 1 pm.

all this attention to our cause originated from the disfellowshipping and shunning of joel jahn in davenport, wa, a few months back.

at that time joel wrote a letter to the local davenport newspaper explaining the wt disfellowshipping policy used against him because he spoke out against the religion's child abuse policies.

sanity will prevail when we get the people of pennsylvania (and every other state) to back the reforms needed to protect children.

i was a special asst district attorney in the phila grand jury investigation, and i can tell you it was extraordinarily frustrating that the law posed nothing but roadblocks.

there are serious insufficiencies in the laws that protect children, and unless citizens demand changes in the law, as the report suggests, we'll have more of the same.

thank you for your inquiries regarding the barbara anderson vs. watchtower tennessee appellate court hearing, which took place on thursday, april 14, 2005. accompanied by steve and joy imhof, from panama city beach, florida, and our attorney, jerre hood, from winchester, tennessee, we drove to nashville to attend the 1:00 p.m. scheduled appellate hearing.

this hearing was requested last year by defendants in the case, and they are: the numerous corporations of watchtower bible and tract society; watchtower spokespersons, j. r. brown, and david semonian, and certain elders of the manchester, tn congregation of jws.
