Were your parents a different religion before JDubism?
by Crumpet ini know an awful lot here are 3rd and 4th generation - but were there any who's parents become dubs as adults?
i'd be interested to here what it was that made an adult become a jw when not brought up that way?.
i'll relate my parents experience shortly...but its something i;ve been thinking about a lot.

Hidden Dangers and Accidents - UK
by Simon inhidden dangers and accidents - uk
it is not just work machinery, falls from heights or big explosions that cause injuries.
in the uk around 4,000 people die in accidents at home every year, more than the number of people killed on the roads or at work and around 2.7 million a year turn up at accident and emergency departments looking for treatment.

Honorable Cause.......
by zeroday inif the watchtowers involvement in the un was an honorable cause and they were duped into joining as they claim, why doesn't the rank and file know about it.
i mean, couldn't the watchtower have published all the details for all to consider.
firehawk at "profindsearch" seems to think they were duped into joining.

Quandry - I believe one of the 'conditions' of joining as an NGO (and this is where they can't deny it), is to PROMOTE the UN. After joining as NGO's the Society promoted the UN in the Awake (wow) as per 'contract'.

I'm sure I've already said this on here, but, the ''excuse'' I was given was that 'it wasn't the Society that joined, it was - ''A member of Bethel who joined for PERSONAL reasons/study UNBEKNOWST to the Society''.

80% of Near Death Experiencers Can't Wear Watches...
by FMZ ini have had about 5 digital watches since my nde when i was young.
every single one of them reset itself regularly.
2 of them i gave away because of the problems i had, and their new owners (my father and brother) never had a problem with the watches since..

I heard about the NDE connexion when trying to find out why my daughter couldn't wear a watch (NO - she HASN'T had an NDE). Both cheap and expensive watched would last a maximum of 10 days (not digital, the ones with hands, but I think they all contain batteries these days? lol). The LAST watch I bought her (an expensive one she really wanted) lasted about 8 days, and then I returned it to the manufacturer who sent it back working again. She wore it for a further 3 days.
As I recall, in all these watches the metal touched her wrist. I believe she now has one with a leather strap which is between the watch and her skin which works. Personally I think that it's something to do with electrical impulses which must vary between people, and the metal acts as a conductor.
