I've noticed - and wondered - as a Churches have a 'cross' displayed outside their buildings, Kingdom Halls display a 'watchtower' integrated into the brickwork...at least the 'cross' represents Jesus, but a watchtower?? Represents a printing company!!

No Idols...hypocrites
by KW13 inthe 'no idols' rule would work very well if the witnesses had followed it themselves...the watchtower symbol (the tower one ya know...) was made into an idol itself, seperate from god and everything else, infact in our congregation at saddleworth for sometime we had a gold one above the platform.. .

Lurking has its faults
by RisingEagle ini've been researching prior postings gathering info but mostly reading because i've been 'out' for almost 14 years.
i still have numerous relatives that are still 'in' and when we get together those still in seem to get a sort of kick out of discussing super double secret goings on with 'new light' and changes in the cult.
it's been fun to be able to say, "oh you mean the change in length of the sunday talk?

I did it! and it's your fault
by Hortensia ini went to the grocery store today - no that's not your fault.. it's 103 degrees today, not bad.
there were three people sitting in the shade in front of the grocery store.
there was a middle aged woman, an older man in a wheelchair, and a thin man whose frozen smile screams "elder.

do i go with my gut instinct???(long, im sorry, but i need help)
by theinfamousone inso, simply put, i am in love... and love makes a man do some really stupid things.... love makes a pretty damn intelligent man feel pretty damn stupid quite often as well... so here's my story... i have been dating this girl for almost a year now... she is beautiful, sweet, and really just everything i imagined in a life mate... she lives with me... she doesnt work, while i do full time, and also go to school... i make very good money, so that does not bother me... but heres where it all begins... a few months ago, she went to cuba with her sisters, and imoved her into my place while she was gone, her idea, not mine.. now we keep our condoms in a certain place.... anyways, her box of condoms was gone, with her... when she comes back, our little box of condoms is empty.... instead of asking her about it, i explained it to myself as she must have given them to her sister.... .
while i am gone at work, i usually give her a call on my breaks... i notice that she never answers the phone between 6-8 pm.. home or cell... her explanation is that she is always in the shower... the problem with that is that she is always coming out of the shower when i get home.... i get home at around nine... so either she is taking a 3 hour shower or she is taking two showers a night..... she disappears off the face of the earth everytime she goes home to visit her family... like shes not home, shes not answering her phone and only ever calls me when she is in her car....her explanation is that she is at a cousins house.. conveniently, one that i do not know..... last night she went to a wedding... it was over at 11, i know this because she had told me, nd a friend of mine tht was there said that it ended then,,, it was a dry wedding, no dancing... very religious people... i was supposed to meet her at 130 today, i got to the train station that she was coming to, 15 minutes early and waited over an hour there... finally as i decied to walk back home, she gives me a call... i will be home at 5, meet me at the train.... of course, i have been calling her since last night at 11 to tell her i would meet her at 130 as she had planned... i made brunch for her, which is now in the garbage... i was scared shitless she had been hit by a car or dead since her phone has been off since last night.... i asked her why she is so late, i was helping move things until 3am last night... bull shit.. all the gifts were given prior to the weding and the bride and groom had already moved into their new place.... i know because she has told me in the past.....her phone was dead according to her... but all of the sudden, she is able to use it.... no charger, but she can use it..... i did confront her once, and she exploded on me!!!!
like screamed and screamed and said she was insulted i even asked... textbook defensive behaviour right????.

Infamousone, if you don't want to confront her - and it doesn't look like you'd get any peace of mind from/believe her answers..you know what I'd do?...
She lives with you, and doesn't answer the phone between 6-8pm...I'd call her at 6pm (on both phones to make sure), and when she didn't answer, go home and see if she's there...stay home up till about 8pm, then leave and return as normal just after 9pm....THEN ask her where she was around 7-8pm...and THEN you'll know for sure.

LEECHES?!? LEECHES!?! You gotta be kiddin' !! Ever seen this?

What if you kept leeches as pets, and then got bitten? Would you be disfellowshipped? What if your pet dog bit you, drew blood (dogs being carnivores)...or am I being silly?

WHY, do they print this crap? Bloody uneducated idiots. Leeches are still invaluable in improving circulation in re-attached limbs/digits (after surgery).

1914, Generation doctrine belief change!
by Gill ini had the dubious pleasure of explaining the 1914 generation change doctrine to a relative who has been a jw for all of his life the other day.
he didn't even know that there had been a generation change and that the wt was no longer claiming that those alive in 1914 would still be alive when armageddon struck.. however, he said he would only believe me if i could tell him the exact date of the watchtower that explained this change.. though i know it is 1995, i do not know the exact date/issue and he refused to research it claiming it would show lack of faith on his part if he questioned his beliefs....but he said he would look it up if i told him which issue it was.. so, please, could anyone direct me to the exact issue in which this world shattering event was revealed?.
i remember, many jws, especially elderly ones being shocked at this revelation, but obviously this particular relative was not concentrating at the time!!

Just as an aside...they are brainwashed. Had a JW call about 2.5 years ago (and I wasn't aware of the 'Generation' change then), and mentioned the 1914 thingy...and he actually LAUGHED at me for quoting the '1914 generation not passing away' thing...and I was confused (as I didn't 'know' anything had chanfed...well why would I?? GOD promised it, lol), and he just took it in his stride that HE had the new Light and I was ignorant....what an arse.... I did however ask him how he arrived at 1914 - as HE was one of REMNANT (which the WT ''prophesied correctly as WWI occured then''), and he's getting back to me...lol...I'll keep you informed...
