Chirac versus the Cults
by ArtfulDodger ini've 'eard that that chap who runs the frogs just east of the uk has turned his attention to the scientologists .
and that the dubs are pretty peed off with the lack of recent attention - seems the chat on the rialto (well, le pont, i suppose) is that the dubs are now scheming to get back in the news by planning some dastardly plot to discredit even the lesser cults .
any update would be gratefully received.

I'd like a nice little 2 door sporty drop-head Rialto with a LePont interior.

Charles Russell: What caused his death?
by truthseeker ini would be interested to know how charles t. russell actually died.
it's said he died on a train in 1916, but there are no specifics.. did he have a heart attack, cancer or something?
was there any report made by a chief medical examiner?

Judging by an earlier thread I think the cause of death was an ill-fitting toga and a shortage of industrial strength 'Preparation H'.

The current medical consensus is that life does survive, for a period of roughly thirteen seconds, varying slightly depending on the victim's build, health and the immediate circumstances of the decapitation. The simple act of removing a head from a body is not what kills the brain, rather, it is the lack of oxygen and other important chemicals provided in the bloodstream. To quote Dr. Ron Wright "The 13 seconds is the amount of high energy phosphates that the cytochromes in the brain have to keep going without new oxygen and glucose" The precise post-execution lifespan will depend on how much oxygen, and other chemicals, were in the brain at the point of decapitation; however, eyes could certainly move and blink.

...and while I'm on the subject of Ian Brady - we not only PAY to keep these monsters alive, but PAY for them to take a University Degree WHILE serving life - what's THAT about? All these kids not being able to afford to go to University to improve their career options and Myra Hindley getting a Humanities Degree - WHAT FOR? Mind you, you have to laugh at her choice of ''Humanities''. Another one who deserved a decent drop.

.........and don't even get me started on Ian Huntley. Five day hunger strike? What's that about? I call not eating for 5 days a DIET, NOT a hunger strike - gosh, bet he must have lost up to 2lbs. Another one for the trapdoor.

Cats a JW no-no?
by Confession ini stumbled across what appears to be a website maintained by a jw circuit overseer.
on it he includes what looks like a question from readers.
it has very strong things to say about the 'beastliness' of cats--and why christians should consider whether or not it is proper to have them in our homes.

"Please wrap me in a Roman Toga" - Russell's Last Words?
by slimboyfat ini had never heard this before, but according to royston pike those were russell's last words.
can anyone verify this, or show where this story comes from?

All kidding aside I thought Russell died of hemmorroids.
It's possible to DIE from hemmhoroids? - so, Russell actually said, ''smother me in Preparation H'', and the porter mis-heard?
Sheesh, and I thought porters just had to carry cases - didn't realise they had to be efficient in toga-making AND pile cream application.

It's so good of the English to keep Ian Brady in maximum security comfort for 40 years while the mother of one of his victims STILL can't get closure on her child. Even pretending he was willing to oblige just in order to remotely view the grave of his victim. Sick. That man should have swung years ago.
