  i may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.

  i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.

  yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

  I have noticed they tend to set up where there isn't much foot traffic...

  ...on one of my infrequent visits to Birmingham (England), they used to park their trolleys along New Street (the main pedestrianised shopping street), but the last time I went into the city, they were underneath the bypass - directly opposite a homeless man sitting about three yards away and facing them. Talk about irony. Four JW 'Christians' standing there, laughing and chatting amongst themselves, dressed to the nines, and a man, down on his luck, homeless, sitting on cardboard on the pavement.

  I was running late for an appointment, otherwise I would have engaged these 'Christians' about Faith and Works...next time I need to go in, I'm going in early.

  Pledge for Global Assistance Arrangement - $15 per publisher!

  last night our congregation read a letter for the global assistance arrangement combined with the traveling overseer assistance arrangement.

  the "recommended" amount was $15 per publisher, which was well over $1000 for our hall.. it seemed steep.

  our congregation does not have this type of money.

  I have heard so many times, the boasting about how they "never ask for donations!"

  They can't actually see it! Last time I went into a KH, there were two collection boxes at back..one being for 'worldwide work'...anything changed? Their interpretation of not asking for donations is not 'passing a plate' as the church does (or did)

  Absolutely - but who amongst the R&F has any worthwhile books or reads any sources. The WT knows they could print absolute crap and the dubs would lap it up as evidence supporting their agenda. I'm surprised they don't make up quotes, as no one would check the authenticity.

  They thrust a couple of Awake magazines in my hand and said there were stories of other sisters who had been through a similar situation of abuse, and that they had turned to Jehovah and prayed

  So, in other words, it is so common and accepted within the Watchtower, it's just an unimportant and dismissive issue to the elders.

  Is The Bible REALLY The Word Of The FDS?

  i know this will have already been covered on the forums but ... upon visiting a jw relative in hospital, they requested i brought their bible in (the gideons bible supplied by the nhs clearly being inadequate and not supporting wt fantasy).

  i dutifully went to their house and grabbed what i thought was a bible (an easy mistake to make assuming the nwt is actually a bible).

  it seems i couldn't have got it more wrong, resulting in one horrified jw and one very confused (albeit gorgeous) midwich.

  Black shank? Silver shank? Blimey...speaking in tongues, lol... I assume the silver (as it looked grey). I took the green one in originally (shock, horror). Why on Earth are they keeping these out of date, apostalistic (is that a word?) Bibles? (green, black, silver)
